    New Supra engine

For those of you that like engineering this is a cool video. BMW did an incredible job on this thing.

They’re going to find out. They are shooting for 1000hp.

Supra has really been overtaken by events, its heavy, low power, low technology, etc, even if it were to make 1000 HP, pony cars already make that out the door with just a few tweaks,. there is no way way this ever competes with a Hemi head to head on power mods not to mention Ford and Chevrolet.

Its a simple nolstagia play with no real chance of re-living the lore of yore supras

Don't like that timing chain at the back of the engine. Just ask any 4.2 Audi owner how expensive the inevitable chain repair is on their similarly designed engine.

almost every HEAVY DIESEL engine has gone that way and is a BIG improvement in airflow / packaging / NVH

any of the CUMMINS "ISB" builders know non "DODGE" versions are rear gear and ill suited for pick up install - making the "DODGE" version of the "ISB" unique from the OTHER versions

That's what I was thinking. Probably have to drop the engine to change the timing chain which means it will be super expensive causing lots of people to take their chances on a catastrophe.

Other than that there's a ton of well thought out features.

To be fair a timing chain replacement shouldn't be inevitable - it should outlast the car. Audi's chain drive on that 4.2 was quite a bit more complex then on this BMW I6.

Since the reveal of the C8, no one cares about these cars anymore.
It has sucked up all of the oxygen in the sports car world.

Too much BMW.....I wonder how the Supra will fair on the secondary market once all the German engineering quirks start to show up.

Right...that is what would scare me off from the Supra. My perception of Toyota reliability is blown because this is really nothing but a BMW in drag.

Good to know. I wonder what the factory recommended replacement interval is.
