Japanese makers to recall 3.3 million cars

Wow that is a big job to organise and carry out. It will affect their reputation for sure

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-04-1...m-cars/4623952

ABC news is reporting that Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Mazda will recall a total of approx 3.3 million cars for a passenger airbag problem

"The involved vehicles are equipped with front passenger airbag inflators which could have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant wafers," the statement said.

"Improperly manufactured propellant wafers could cause the inflator to rupture and the front passenger airbag to deploy abnormally in the event of a crash."

The company's spokesman in Japan said this abnormal inflation "could also burn part of the vehicle's inside and cause fire".

I wonder if Australian produced Toyotas have these airbags?

Damn, I could have bought a GM and not need to deal with this crap.

I thought I was saving money with an import,
but instead my import is a poorly manufactured, job-destroying, life-threatening piece of ****.

    Oh what a feeling.........
    aaaaaaagggggh.....
    crash......
passenger air bag fails to deploy....
    causes fire.....
    everyone dies.......

Funny stuff. I hadn't realized that they called their explosive ignitors by the term "propellant wafers". Makes them sound much nicer and safer than the blasting caps that they really are.

Look for affected models to all be instantly recommended by appliance monthly. Sales will be through the roof, people only get upset when it's GM recalling a tiny fraction of the vehicles.

I just got my Pontiac Vibe recall today - clearly stated as Toyota defect on the recall notice letter. LOL, they threw them under the bus.
