Given the fact that Infiniti is heading in the direction this car would be going anyway, I'm more than a little surprised by this. Perhaps the joint venture that is the new Mercedes pickup didn't go as smoothly as was hoped?

Sedan market is collapsing....why bother...its a cuv world...

The Infiniti qx30 is undercutting the Mercedes gla here in the USA by10 percent and Mercedes is building the cuv for Infiniti...

Consumers know it and it must be pissing Mercedes off.

It didn't help then the Mercedes pickup didn't disguised further the Titan body and I guess the nickname "Mercedes Cimarron" had caught on.

I don't think the partnership is dying, just this car.

A couple month back, boss and I happened to rent a QX30; my boss has a Mercedes, he says "They copied; this is just like my CLS!"

So as he is driving I'm looking up what this car actually is (I originally thought it was a Rogue Sport) "this is a Mercedes!"

You may have nailed it right there. But, that could be an argument for co-developing a sedan if both brands are going to have one. Could this mean the CLA is on the way out?

You know, I actually thought they did a pretty good job with the front clip. I was a little disappointed that the rest of the truck looks more or less exactly like a Nissan. I mean, even GMC and Chevy have more differentiation in the bed than the Merc and Nissan do. Go figure.

Are you talking about the interior or exterior? To me they did a good job of differentiating them, though neither looks particularly like a luxury car to me, which I think is hard to do on a fwd based small CUV.

I spent this past weekend on a road trip in a QX30. Decent platform, decent powertrain, minor flaws. It's a relationship that could have worked well... for Infiniti.

The exteriors look nothing alike, but the sharing is obvious in the interior.
It does get some good stuff... the QX30 I drove had memory seats on both sides which is fast becoming a widespread victim of cost cutting.

They ain't kidding when they say it's compact. It's very compact... it's a form over function car.

Yes, and he immediately began to drive faster and crazier; yes-sir we backed our way up that wrong exit we took!

Interior controls, from the outside, you'd never guess they were the same.

There you go thinking again; no my boss (former now) is on his 3rd M-B after about 5 Deville/DTS's.

Ya think? " Japanese publication Nikkan Kogyo claims that the two automakers have halted work on the joint model due to consumers now demanding utility vehicles."

    That's odd.
