Honda says Accord is America's best-selling car among actual consumers

    http://www.autoblog.com/2014/02/21/h...als/#continued

Honda has long avoided fleet and has been criticized for that (Honda could easily still the midsize crown from Toyota if they did). But longterm, its working for them. You can spin them all you want, but numbers do not lie.

Good for them, though I've heard this many times over the years and have absolutely no doubts that it is true. It really comes down to the age old question of if fleet sales are bad. Fleet sales were certainly bad the way old Detroit did to prop up manufacturing, but in moderation I don't think there is anything wrong with them as long as GM et. al. makes a profit.

Well.. Accord is certainly a better car than the Camry. To bad it has a CVT.

Honda Motor Company has marched to the beat of a different drummer ever since its first production automobile was manufactured in 1963. And despite some mistakes along the way, they have succeeded.

I liked the 2012 Civic much more than the Carmy four or 2012/aka 2004 Corolla I drove.

CVTs are I guess matters of taste. I liked the one in the Altima I drove. I presume Honda's would be as good as or better than that one.

As for best-selling to indivicuals? That's a good title to have.

It is a matter of taste, I just hate them with such a force. They are fine when you are going slow but floor them and they just sound horrible and make the car feel like a crap. I know, I drove an 2008 Altima for a long time that got 2 CVTs replaced by Nissan. At least the work was done under warranty, but boy I hated that transmission.

I think the Accord is the best mid-size car on the road today. This coming from a Camry owner. Honda makes a good CVT. If you've ever driven a honda rubicon atv you'll know what I'm talking about as it has a cvt in it. If the Accord's cvt is anything like that it should be just fine. I don't believe the V6 comes with the cvt does it?
    Current:

    2012 Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road 4x4

    Past:

    1995 Toyota 4x4 pick-up
    2004 Silverado Z71 ext. cab 5.3L
    2011 GMC Sierra 4x4 crew cab 6.2L

coming up on 3 years and 32K miles in my wife's 2011 Accord V6 and it hasn't so much as sneezed yet. Other than oil changes, not one single trip back to the dealer.

You have a 6MT Accord Sport? Nice!

This is perhaps the best configuration for the best midsize sedan in the U.S. market today. It's an amazing value at less than $25k!

Re: Honda says Accord is America's best-selling car among actual consumers

The Accord is one of the few vehicles so well done with a CVT...most don't even notice, let alone complain. It's the "Honda way" of doing one, all the benefits and little of the harm.

    Great car.

Re: Honda says Accord is America's best-selling car among actual consumers

Honda's accomplishment is much , much more than about just the Accord -

    - from the press release

The Honda Accord was the best-selling car with individual American car buyers in 2013 and was joined by three other Honda models – the Civic, CR-V, and Odyssey – as retail sales leaders in their respective segments in 2013, according to new-vehicle registration data compiled by Polk, which was recently acquired by IHS. The Accord, built in Marysville, Ohio1, was the No. 1 produced car in America in 2013.

Cumulatively, the Accord, Civic, CR-V and Odyssey posted retail sales of more than 1.11 million units in 2013, each earning the business of more than 300,000 individual American car buyers.

Excluding full-size pickups, only one other model across the entire industry posted retail sales of more than 300,000 units in 2013.

    - and the 'other one' is the POS Camry.

So think about it - excluding the Pick Ups, Honda had four out of five of the retail champs ie #1, #3, #4, and #5.

And even with them included , @ the very least four of the top seven ...... with at most three singles from all others.

    Wow.

As always............. they are the ones 'to beat' in the regular retail space - not Toyota.

Mr Lutz....... and some others could have benefited from that realization - back when.

Euros also as always....... for the space above.

And yes, you need the frickin' first class diesels - and ATs....... across all lines globally.

Time to remove head from ass.
