    Genesis Sedan Sales March 2015

I haven't validated these numbers but I'm sure somebody here will. If they're correct - then the Genesis is doing very well. 3197 were sold last month. Here are some competitors as written over at GenesisG70Forum.com:

    Cadillac CTS 1499
    BMW 5 Series 3157
    Mercedes E Class 3695
    Audi A6 1453
    Infiniti Q70 577
    Lexus GS 1524

Doesn't those numbers include the coupe. Also I would be looking at the numbers from the lacrosse and 300 as real comparisons.

Also, its nowhere near the price points of say Cadillac CTS;BMW 5 Series ; Mercedes E Class ; Audi A6 ; Infiniti Q70 ; Lexus GS ; so perhaps charger is a better comparison sales wise.

As a challenger brand I think volume is far more important than ATP relative to the direct competition. Genesis has to make a name for itself and the best way to do so it to get as much of it's product on the street, and ultimately into potential buyers minds. I think Cadillac would be better served taking a hit to their ATPs and getting significantly more product on the road, I believe that would would advance the brand faster than their current strategy of being on par, or close in terms of pricing.

Good points, guys. These numbers are for the Genesis "Sedan". It's the first time Hyundai has separated the models...

They're good numbers, but they're more like a Mercedes C in terms of price so I am interested where this goes once there's a G70.

The point is over 3000 people were enticed to save money and buy a cheaper large luxury sedan than fork over bigger money for a name.

I would trust Johan over one of us on how to build a luxury brand, ATP's are an integral component of creating exclusive club for a brand, if you are driving a car any Fusion driver can drive, that is not luxury.

Re: Genesis Sedan Sales March 2015

Every driver that bought a Genesis didn't buy a CTS, or 5-Series, or C-Class. They didn't see the point coughing up more money for any of those. They figured they could get all they want in a less expensive package. This HAS to worry the big boys, who count on buyers spending alot more money for only a bit more car.

I have to say Johan is doing a fine job of creating exclusivity! I'm just guessing it wasn't part of the plan to be quite as exclusive as they are so I guess you could say they've overachieved?

CTS is selling better than I expected.

Genesis is a great bang for the buck.

March was good for the Genesis, but a large, one month increase like that usually spells fleet-sale.

It's more of matter of limits, because relying on value to earn sales isn't ideal. Then you're just another Infiniti-tier brand. I am sure they're hoping it's temporary.

Or perhaps these are people who didn't buy a Lacrosse, Toyota Avalon, etc.. These might be somewhat price sensitive people who were going for a comfort oriented $50k Lacrosse but thought the Genesis was nicer and worth a couple of extra bucks. But these same people wouldn't consider the pricier and sportier CTS, 5 Series, etc..

More likely a mix, some stolen sales from the luxury makes and some stolen from Buick/Toyota....
