Aren't all of GM's newest models also iPod compatible?

It's easy to do something across your 'entire lineup' when your lineup consists of three cars. BMW or VW also offers iPod compatibility in their newer models.

I agree that Toyota is playing this up like Scion is a full line on 10 different cars and trucks!

They are smart by doing this since Scion is their cutting edge "youth" brand...youth being 40 years old. At least that is better than Toyota which is getting into Buick territory.

GM is adding aux input on their head units, but I don't think they will allow you to control the iPod from your head unit or steering controls like the set-up that Scion, VW and BMW offer.

I hope I am wrong. I am just glad GM is adding the aux input at all. I can flip through songs on my iPod and just control the volume from my steering wheel, I'm not too picky.

As long as I don't have to buy and fiddle with an iTrip, that's compatible enough for me.

I'd rather have an 'accessory port' than full-on iPod compatibility, anyway. iPod is a flash in the pan, I like my car options to be long-lasting.

where do you get your sources

only the avalon comes close to the buick age
the toyota average is not close to buick
the average for scion is still younger than any other car brand

You are right I looked up some articles stating the average Scion buyer's age as 36. Still pretty old, but yes it is younger than any other brand.

Toyota on the other hand has an average buyer age of 47 which is 2 years above the industry average but not as bad as Buick.

    I stand corrected.

Agreed, although having both would be good.

AV and AtomicShark took the words right out of my mouth. I dont see the big deal here. But then again, I dont see the big deal with Scion. If I wanted to buy an echo I would just save my money and buy an Aveo.

So lets see. Toyota lied about recalls. Lied about their HP ratings... I wonder how much truth is in their milage ratings..

Do they also have MP3 CD compatibility? A stack of 50 CDs costs a whole lot less than an iPod, and I've only barely broken 60 CDs with my own MP3 collection.

    Yes and No.
GM offers an AUX input on the new corporate radio or within the center armrest.

Though you can use it for an iPod, it is not "compatible" per se. iPod compatibility means "digital audio out" and ability to control it from a remote control or the steeringwheel controls, etc.

Re: All Scions to be iPod Compatible (upgrade)

Saw my first Scion this weekend... a black Scion xB. Iyt had Ontario plates, and a New York State transfer sticker in the back window... not really sure what that means. What I do know is that I like it! Pretty odd looking duck, but I also have a soft spot for the Aztek and Element. The xB would suit me just fine! I wonder how long it will be before Toyota brings Scion to Canada. I'd rather buy GM... but if priced right I could be tempted.
