    Vista-X and the 442

Let me know what you think! They need some work..but hopefully I have distinguished a direction somewhat....also, if the 442's angle is annoying, let me know and Ill change it...because I personally dont know how I feel about it. Thanks. Hoey.

I kind of feel a bit of need to explain how I feel Olds would fit in, along with the direction of my designs. Okay, so I see Oldsmobile be designed with a bit more upscale and luxury look then Chevy and more sportiness then Buick...so somewhere in between those two..if that makes sense? The Vista-X is based of the evolution of station wagon to crossover. And what was one of the ultimate station wagons? The Olds Vista Cruiser, but today, with cross overs being a popular market..I say call it the Vista X (or Vista Cross) and it will be a Lambda. In the 70's, the 442 was Olds' bad boy, 4 on the floor, 4barrel carb, dual exhaust ran all the way up toa 455 big block..it was american muscle to the utmost. Today, it will stand for 4 seater, LS4 and stay true to the dual exhaust. This car will possibly share the platform with the new Camaro. A base model will be the Cutlass (trying to think of a new name) and it will come with the 3.8 S/C motor...because even the Cutlass was a pretty sweet machine back in the day. Possibly, if we see the Monte Carlo on a new platform that has RWD, the 442 and Cutlass could share that instead of the Camaro. Also..remember the late 70s-mid 80's...the Monte Carlo SS..the Buick Grand National ..and the Oldsmobile 442...lets bring 'em back guys!

    UPDATED BOTH

Heres my influence for the 442...going for the extent of retroness that the new camaro has..

I really like the 442. I am not really feeling the Vista X but I never liked the original, Lincoln MKX or Aviator Concept, anyways. Great job. Maybe you should change the Vista X more so it doesnt look like a Lincoln.

Yea, I spent quite a bit more time on the 442 then the Vista X...and it shows. I just wanted to get posted to get a feel for what people thought. If I dont scrap the Vista X, then it will get alot more attention.

Thanks, yea I know that there is still alota Lincoln. I was just trying to get them up so I could catch some comments er ideas. I think ive got the general look going on, the Vista X needs alot of attention, but thats ballparking the front and where I want to take it. But figured no sense in investing all my time into something if everyone was going to hate the basic idea of it, so thats why i threw it out here like this. Thanks for the comments tho.

Did a little more work on the Vista X...just messin around with it..thinking about scrapping it completely..but maybe not. I re angled the 442, that is tenative and I will make it look better, do something about those black corners. Thanks again for comments, keep 'em coming.

    Re: Vista-X and the 442

Grille concept is pretty cool, but I'd try to make the 4-4-2 a 2+2 at least, and not a two seater. In the original 4-4-2 you could at least put someone behind the seats comfortably.

    Other than that, nice work.

The 442 looks nice! I'd suggest changing the headlamps and adding flutes to the grille, though.

    Re: Vista-X and the 442

    Thanks for the comments.

Yea, I really wanted to emphasis on the grills, have something that ties in with the olds of the past. Being split, I wanted to stay away from steppin on Pontiac style..so I made them more rectangular and larger..and I think it works, looks very Oldsmobile, but not drownding in retro-style...which is the direction that I see GM taking in the new cars they are reviving. Like I said, I wanted the 442 to be a Camaro style design...enough retro to see its past, but not enough to call it a retro style..more like an evolution off of the best looks that the older ones had. I hated that I had to use Lincoln cars, but I am not good enough at photoshop to make what I want outta nothing...and the Lincoln car was exactly the body I wanted for the 442..smooth, classy....and the VistaX I used the Lincoln car as a base aswell just to be uniform with the 442...just so that anything that I could not modify to look similer to the other, would be covered by the Lincoln underneath...but anyways..thanks for all the input again.
