Cool [UPDATED] Rendered: 2014 Chevrolet Malibu MCE

From Automotive News's breaking story of the Malibu receiving an MCE late 2013, I wanted to take a stab at the "new front fascia" and how that would look on the vehicle.

Given how quickly this turnaround will have to take place for Chevy I'm envisioning hood/sheet-metal changes and fascia and grille updates to accomplish this task. No major hard points would be changed. Headlights are untouched as well but perhaps housed in new containers of some sort...

Here is my take - click for bigger verison

Revised from post feedback - wow looks much better - thanks all

-every piece donor'd came from either the Traverse or the Impala and blended together with some existing front Malibu fascia to create the unified look and feel.

Since this IS going to happen in some form, I wanted to go back to some older chops I did of the rear end to illustrate how they could clean that up too - w/ maybe give a little "hint" of retro for good measure I have yet to hear if anything will be done on the rear, but I really liked doing these two chops so I wanted to include them again for comparison ...

cleaned up rear styling - tail lights, deck lid, and rear door modified

subtle retro styling harking back to the late 50s - tail lights, deck lid, and rear door modified

Hope you like - constructive feedback appreciated as always! thanks all

Grille's a tad too big for my taste, but looks are light-years ahead of what GM did.

Agreed. The grill just needs to be a pinch smaller, but I like the direction of the design.

The chop looks good but does not fix the things that are wrong with the car. Interior design (tone down the craziness) and the rear leg room. How about fixing the seat bottoms so rear passengers can slide there feet under them like in the Regal?

Great work! I'd buy one if all I was basing my decision on was your design. I like the grill just the way it is!

I never liked the '13's grille. In fact, I always felt it was the worst part of the design. I like your update a lot and would like to see it a bit smaller in height. I like that Chevy is going back to a more traditional grille on its vehicles like the Traverse.

I agree the grille is a bit big - see what I can do on that - maybe shrink it down a tad - thanks everyone for the feedback

I really like what you did with the back end, the first rear 1/4 view in particular. Looks smoother and stronger to me.

Pretty good looking overall, but the grill could be a little smaller with some body colored parts seperaing it from the headlights. Otherwise it looks more "truckish" with a real big grill on a small car.

    Just my opinion.

Christ, you're good. I love it that we have two awesome guys here that can whip this stuff up and make it look as if I could go out and buy one today.

I agree, shrink the grill and align it better with the headlights to give it a more Camaro-like face. Hood is sharp, and I would like to see if we could scrap that whole tail light panel to morph into something more like the Impala's frosted design. The dot LED look is just...no. I have an LTZ turbo in for review right now, and I so wish it had this face.

Nice idea and execution, and I think you are right this probably is what GM will do, but I hope this isn't where it goes. I'm still not a fan of this new look we see on the traverse and impala. Reminds me too much of this

Re: Rendered: 2014 Chevrolet Malibu MCE

Definitely like what you did with the front, but like everyone else is mentioning, just need to "shrink" it a tad.

I like how you worked on the taillights a bit, but personally, I'm not a fan of the general rear design whatsoever.
