    Pontiac Aztek, restyled

Some that are perhaps stuck on the stigma of the name may say; "Ya' just can't polish a turd..,"
But I still saw potential in reshaping it.

I always thought that had GM offered this kit instead of the regular model it would have NOT been as infamous as it turned out to be in the styling dept.

That's looking good that way too, the stance and fender flairs helped a lot.

As far as me , the beauty of Aztek was its Kammback tail. The real work needing place was the C pillar and front. Still there is a potential of a compact kammback styled CUV based on the volt platfrom (including powertrain ) with a very good space efficiency and aerodynamics.

BMW has X4 and X6 , Tesla will have model x and so on .... , its still an opportunity for compact sport CUV.

I am oddly fascinated by the Aztek...even toying with the idea of finding a lightly used one! Must be my TBI from the accident last year!
I wish they all could be California squirrels!
Past Rides: 2003 Grand Am GT1 (saved me), 1995 Bonneville SLE (RIP), 1986 635 CSi, 1984 Estate Wagon, 1978 Malibu Classic, 1978 Corvette, 1975 Vega Kammback (Miss ya'), 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger (STFU...it got me there!)

I have never seen one of these in real life.
Is the Aztek considered a classic Pontiac?
Because that would explain a great deal to me.

    Re: Pontiac Aztek, restyled

    Ironically...

    Automotive News
    September 14, 2015 - 12:01 am ET

The Pontiac Aztek, that infamous ugly duckling and commercial failure from the last decade, has finally found an appreciative audience -- millennials in search of used cars.

In the first half of 2015, the Aztek had the sixth-highest share among 18- to 34-year-old used-vehicle buyers, according to an Edmunds analysis of Polk data. It has been among the top 10 in that category in four of the last five years. (The Dodge Magnum, discontinued in 2008, was tops in the first half of this year.)

What do young people see in the Aztek that their elders most assuredly did not?

Edmunds.com analyst Jeremy Acevedo said the passenger van segment's popularity among young people "comes back to making a pragmatic, needs-based purchase." He said vans provide extra space for a young family.

And then there is the "Breaking Bad" factor. The Aztek was the vehicle of choice for Walter White, the chemistry teacher-turned-drug lord played by Bryan Cranston in the mega-hit AMC series.

It's interesting that Aztek failed to garner a large customer base among its 'Generation X' target audience when it was launched as a new vehicle fifteen years ago (due primarily to pricing, not styling). As a used vehicle, pricing is no longer an issue. So its appeal among called 'millennials' makes perfect sense.

Aztek's versatility is remarkable: I can't think of any crossover vehicles today that come close to matching the bevy of interesting features Aztek had, such as the removable cargo tray with wheels, center console with a removable beverage cooler, and built-in tent/airbed.

To answer Orville's question: yes, Aztek is a classic Pontiac and one of the former brand's most memorable products.

I would add the older generations dis like of it kills the resale and adds a "rarity" to it + the "it is NOT my DADS car" helps

The design is a little funky but oh so practical and would be welcomed in most any driveway in our country , anyway . Am I seeing things or do the headrests have holes in them ? These holy head rests are in my 2002 Buick Regal LS . Somehow it helps open up an interior that is already the best in any mid sized car I've ever driven . Lord it is the best car I've ever owned and rue the day it will pass away . That said , KarDan , your version of the Aztec would be a happy replacement in my garage !
