this is a step in a direction i've been toying with (mostly in my head 'til today).
for the most part, the design is nearly what i've been thinking:

    --stacked headlights
    --higher beltline
    --narrow scoop/bulge
    --edgier and more aggressive
    --contemporary look
    --unmistakably pontiac

i figured i'd get a comment about the cts headlights...i really only mean them to suggest how i think the lights should be stacked. i don't actually want gm to go to cadillac's parts bin, no.

anyway, the proportions of the front are rather bold and upright like the cts, but i think that's retro without being retro, you know? just a thought.

I know what you are trying to do...and I think that your trying to incorporate lineage of the car, and to modernize it... I agree with your ideas... Stacked headlights would be fitting. I just wish the Monaro wasn't so round-looking. Ah well, good try though... it's hard to shop.

I agree with Cybo, nice with ur attempt, but the Monaro body pretty much ruins it. Not that the Monaro is a bad thing. It's just not good enough 2 base ur concept off of. The Monaro is a bit on the dated side.

    1998 Chevy Camaro Z-28
    2004 Chevorlet Trailblazer
And further down the road: 2k4 Cadillac CTS V.

I definitely agree with everyone else, so far. The roundness of the rear of the car just makes the whole thing look awkward. . . a complete redesign of the rest of the body would be the only way to make your new front end (which is a good idea by itself) look good.

the problem is that the front is far too edgy and the rest of the car is too soft. Try sharpening the roofline and rear end a touch...and maybe add rear wheel brake vents. overall a very nice job

Slow down there young fella. Lets not get too carried away. I dont think GM bases its design on what they see here at GMI. For some reason I find it hard to belive that Lutz is sitting there, waiting for the page to load to see these cars so that he can print them out and file them for a concept.

I agree with everyone else, the CTS's front end mashed onto a Monaro is a bad move, but I think you had a good idea going on. I like the to see a retro themed GTO based of the CTS. I like how the headlights are stacked like that. I think they could do something with that. I think if GM were ever to go retro, it would be to use the CTS like headlights. Who knows, they might do this in 07.

The Monaro's body is way too round to incorporate stacked, edgy headlights like that, overall it doesnt look bad though. Hopefully GM will put the LS2 or the LS6 in the GTO some time soon.

:roflmao: - Bigals you crack me up, man.

(I am picturing Bob Lutz sitting by his printer...)

Hey Ackenda, take it as a compliment, someone thought it was the real thing!

    yea... ha!

i guess on this one i erred on the side of quality chopping without all the attention to the design i could've put in. no prob. i agree with everyone about the roundy body and edgy front. i've been trying to find a couple of good edgy bodies or more roundy stacked lights. i'll give it another try some day.

    good practice anyway...
