    Mercury Maruader

This sketch is of my concept for a new Mecury Maruader. It was done as part of my Trans. Design 2 class. What do you guys think of it?

    Enjoy (I hope)

Wow! That looks very nice, you definitely have some skills there. The picture looks a little blurry, but I think thats because you scanned it in. Looks great though!
I'll make a new sig. Later.

That's pretty cool, but I see a lot of Buick in it.

Maybe also some Lincoln. That is a very stylish car.

    Re: Mercury Maruader

The conpect was to take and Redefine the Mercury Brand. To take it and Lincoln and transform them into a two pronged luxury attack. Making Lincoln a very tradational luxury brand much as it is today. The making Mercury into a sport Luxury brand like BMW but at a fraction of the price. Then for styling I wanted to create a language that vaguely references other luxury cars but is original in its own right, and to create a set of brand values that were unique to and instantly recognizable as a Mercury.

Funny you mention the Buick thing. This car was done as a Mercury to satify the req. of my Trans. Design 2 class. However towards the end of the project I did decide to continue devoloping the design and to re imagine it as a Buick. (Which will be good since im gonna go for a GM intership soon. I hope anyways.)

Yes this pic is Low Rez. it is a copy of a copy from my Deviant Art Gallery.

Did the whole class do Mercury? If so, any chance of seeing the other students' designs?
Your rendering has nice 'sinister' quality to it.

Constructive Criticism...After the grill, hood, and front quarterpanel..you lost my interest. The wheels are awesome...retro yet cool. The one thing I do see is a similarity to the early forties (long hoods, rumble seating, or very short trunk lines) I think that's going to see a comeback but you culd just be ahead of your time. Very nice illustration!!!!

    Re: Mercury Maruader

I suppose I ought to just go through the brief. Were we supposed to design a 4 dr., 5 passenger, mid-size sedan. For any price point and with any features/technology we desirded. However we had to do this in light of Bill Ford's, then recent (Jan. 2006), interview with Time Magazine. In which he pledged Ford to persuing "Green Tech" and "Enviromentaly Friendly" cars. Then as a class we were split into three teams (or studios if you like). These were Mercury, Mazada, and Volvo which are all sort of oddballs within the Fords corarate image.

That said, sadly my camera was stolen mid semester (damn those freshmen!!!) and therefore all of the pictures I had snaped are gone. And I only just replaced it this summer (well after the end of the spring semester).

    Re: Mercury Maruader

A good drawing with great rendering (I can't render my drawings worth a shi*) but it seems a little bland (perhaps that's why it's a ford product?) and wee bit too much buick, not trying to dash it into the ground, I'm just saying there's a couple design cues that can make it stand out more. Great job nonetheless!

Actually that is farily interesting. I am assuming that you are talking about the architecture of the car rather than the quality of sketch. And even if it is the reverse, what sort of things would you do to hold you attention?

I wonder what your take on a Mercuryized Ford Mondeo would be?

Great quality, but I'm not liking the mid-90's-concept-styling that could easily be considered Buick or Olds.
