    GTO update (not mine)

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here it goes. I was looking around at www.ultimategto.com and found this idea for an update to the GTO. I really like it, especially the grill, which keeps the traditional Pontiac split grill style, but isn't a BMW style grill.

You see I do like that style. I think if the GTO came out in the beginning like that it would have been a hit(it would have had to been around the same price range as the new mustang to). The front end says true to the 1965-67 models for the most part.

the front end and the side exhaust i dig... a little to EVO tho. the cab and the rear end are just as bland and ugly as the current one. plus its to squished, a longer meaner looking GTO is what i'd like to see, not a smashed boxy copy of a EVO...

drawing and render quality is awesome tho

isn't the rear quarter and greenhouse pretty much the current GTO? Perhaps this wasn a idea on how to spruce up the current shape of the GTO to make it more Pontiac, and for that matter, more GTO?

it looks less pontiac and more mitsubishi to me, reason for my EVO comparison.

and this is what the current gto should have looked like

I like the sharp line running down the hood and front clip. The GTO needs SOME drastic design cue... the current one looks nice, but has nothing drastic about it. It'd be cool if that line carried down the roof and trunklid too, though maybe that's too Bugatti-ish!

while I see your point... I still like this illustration and it would be easy to pull off. They could lessen the "ricy-ness" a bit but overall I like it.

Look at this comparison... whom ever did this illustration worked with the current car and I think it would be fantastic. New hood, front and rear facias, headlights, front fenders, rocker panels, and wheels... BAM new GTO

Well they did listen a little bit by adding hood scoops and the separated dual exhaust for 05. I don't think GM will invest anymore into the current GTO other than possible limited editions with more power and different colors etc. You never know, GM could surprise us.
