    Final 2007 PONTIAC GT ...(G5) ?

    Well here it is.........
Hope you like it..........or at least appreciate the "design concept".

UPDATE: It seems that I was not far off from the mark on this one !!...PONTIAC seems to agree with ME !

    Pontiac Will Get Entry-Level Coupe
    From Automotive News:

General Motors will give Pontiac an entry-level coupe as a stopgap measure until the division gets more brand-focused products, sources close to Pontiac say. In the process, Pontiac dealers will lose the Montana SV6 minivan.

The coupe will be a high-performance relative of the Chevrolet Cobalt coupe with some Pontiac influences. The vehicle will give the Buick-Pontiac-GMC channel a shot at the small-car market, a source close to GM says. GM is still considering names for it. One option might be the G5, sources say.

Thats cool what you did, but if you try and call that a firebird I might have to barf barf barf then go see a psychologist b/c it would put me into a severly depressed state. b/c if thats the next gen firebird trans am, then gm will be bankrupt before my birthday this coming december.

Not calling it a firebird, your drawing is a cool idea that adds some "flava" to the gto. Nice job objectively, but its sacrilege to call it a firebird. keep up the work (i know I cant draw worth anything and thats why i dont, you have talent though)

OK...so let's rename it and call it a "GTO"....that still works for me.
    Whatever you want, cool ?
Thanks for the kind words too.

work in progress is fine, and usually pretty interesting as we see intothe design processes of others. its the starting individual threads for each revision that rubs the wrong way.

its improved from teh first few cuts, but i think the rear end is pretty bad and blocky, and oddly reminiscent of an old honda CRX, and the front is still channeling a 93 grand am.

i do like the shading work you've done in sculpting the hood. i still feel you should've done some sculpting to the fenders to bring on some muscle to teh car.

It's funny you mentioned a CRX, because that's what I was going for exactly.
Originally I conceived this "car" as a smaller "import size" platform idea. The GTO picture (not really the right scale) which I started from was just what I had at hand. Maybe it should be a Grand-Am ?...or someting between a Solstice and a G6 ?

Maybe next time I can get more "swoopy" !

The more I look at it, the more I agree... it is not a Firebird.
    It IS a "rice rocket".
So judge it as such, after reading about GM desire to conceive a car to compete with the Acura Integra, Mitsu Eclipse, etc., (RWD V-8, V-6 cars), this is what I had in mind when I first started the design. It is not uncommon for the artist to be to close to his work to see what he is really doing !!!

    Judge accordingly. OK?

It's not a Firebird, but would make a great Pontiac import fighter.

Looks alot like a GTO still, and at the same time, it doesn't. Its unique.

I like it...it combines the CRX's back end with the GTO's middle and the Firebird's front. Cool idea.
