    el camino

a new el camino sketch. hope y'all approve. front, side, and a few revisions of the back.

i might be able to do a 3d view by the end of the contest... but this'll do for now.

i decided to go with my own take on the SSR theme for the front, a bit less retro - headlights kinda like the kappa nomad concept, but intersected with the chrome bar.

im not really digging the front end, but the side view is nice, and so is the rear-end, and did u get ur inspiration from the nomad concept for the rear?

    Rear looks a little MonteCarlo-like.

Side profile says Coupe to me, not camino.

    Re: el camino

taillights are more HHR than monte - two stacked round lights (tho more of a red cylinder projecting forward from the rear, until it intersects w/ the fender - need to toss more detail in there, and hope that it still works) - like the sketch on the right. as you move leftwards, my thoughts on having some sort of insert behind them, likely clear, w/ the reverse lights integrated into it, are being fleshed out.

it would be, i hope, nothing like the monte's rear.

i need to work a bit on the side proportions. too much room behind the front wheel, not long enough bed. hope i get around to it.

working on the vector-drawn perspective thing, mostly just to show off some of the shape a bit better. i'm not crazy about how the very back of the thing is coming along, but we'll see where it goes...

Very nice work. There's some definite movement in the vector art, great perspective...it looks like it's gonna drive off the screen! I'd stay with the shape and flush it out a bit more in the details.

    Yes, go on!
You're on the right way. Maybe a little bit "cab forward" or lengten the trunk. Front is really great!

The final version looks pretty good. Could use a vent on the side. But it still looks really good. Nice job.

    Re: el camino

hmm. i guess i hafta darken that then - there is an engine vent (that thing behind the front wheel)

unless you mean that i need some sort of scoop in front of the rear wheel...

i might indeed have to tweak this ever so gently as i look at it this morning - the front side marker isnt the right color, and i forgot door handles and side mirrors.

edit: mods. oops. forgot door handles. ignore that!
