    Contest #78: 78 Holden

Take the picture below and modify it any way that you want. Change colors, looks, background, etc...

The changes can be serious or silly. The changes don't have to make the car more desirable, they just have to make it different.

You are showing off your creativity and your chopping skills.

You must use the original picture as your starting point. Try to keep some semblance of the original pic.

Only 1 entry per person, and NO revisions. Once you've entered, that's your entry.

    Chopping is anonymous!:

Do NOT post your images here in this thread. Instead, E-mail them to: [email protected].
Do not send a link to the picture. Send the picture itself. Please send it in JPG format. Please do not write your name anywhere in your picture.
In your e-mail (but not your picture) please include your user name, even if you think that I know who you are.

You have until Thursday at Midnight to submit your entries, so there is no need to rush right away. Quality takes time. Voting will start on Friday.

Same rule in effect. If you enter, you MUST vote. Contestants that do not vote will be penalized.

    Here's the pic to modify:

I think this was sold as Opel Rekord in Europe. I had some Opel prospects from 70s.

Wow Great choice, I don't know to much history of older Holdens and Foreign Cars, so this is a good way to see them.

    Re: Contest #78: 78 Holden

Since this was contest #78, I went with a car from '78.
There wasn't much to choose from in my database.

No. It was marketed as the Vauxhall Viceroy in UK and Opel Rekord E in Germany.

The Cavalier MK2 was the British version of the Opel Ascona C.

    Re: Contest #78: 78 Holden

If you want to get technical about the whole thing that is a VB Commodore launched in 1978. The car used a combination of exterior panels from the Opel Rekord and longer wheelbase Senator. Underneath it used suspension and engines that were unique to Holden and designed to withstand Australia's conditions. What you are seeing there is a base model, so obviously plain as they come. There were upscale models and sports cars that look a whole lot better in the range too (but keep in mind it was 1978 so they are still pretty naff looking) I hope someone can take this car and work wonders with it. Onya Rex for posting some good ol' aussie classics! Now here's a suggestion for you. The WB Statesman from 1982... I reckon you boys in the US would love to have that to start with, very hip-hop, dripping in chrome with lots of caddy cues. Just a suggestion. Perhaps thats one to wait until contest 82!

    I'm with you SpaceCowboy...

Even though this '78 for the contest isn't the best looking of cars,
    large Holden Sedans are cool.

    Here's a chop I did of a Statesman.

    Original...

    Chop...

I sure wish it was easier to find good Hi Rez pics of the larger Aussie Sedans.
All I've been able to find are a few of the Statesman and also a few of a Caprice that looks very similar to the Statesman.

    Cheers, CD.

WHy couldn't you wait until like the 80's or 90's cars? They'd look a lot better.
