If I knew I could pick up third place by just changing the headlights and the colour, I wouldn't have put in all that effort.

if i knew i could've just changed the color and the headlights and it would've looked the same, neither would i.

everything but the carbon fiber lower body (i ran out of time after my working file crapped out on me twice) was stitched together off of a cobalt donor pic, and then overlayed the original pic to change the color, but also add, i think, some realism and some interaction with teh surroundings.

if i was smarter, i would've chopped some new taillights and side mirrors onto the thing, like prova did, instead of trying to overlay them as well.

yeah, my end result was a bit sloppy, but it was a lot more work than just a simple color change...

what lies underneath the overlaid WRCC drawing is this:

its a mess, and gives clues as to where i drastically cut corners and rushed things, but still - it was a fair amount of work.

I think for a quick job and having lost the cobalt over lay image along the way it still turned out well. Job well done all.

I wasn't having a go at you, mate. Just the ones who voted for you. We now know you have put a lot of work into it , but my point is the finished result looks no different to a colour and background change, and some new headlights. People are voting for what they see.

And my suggestion about wasted effort was about what I did to finish fourth, behind what seems like a five minute job (remember the Saab contest, Rex?).

    No hard feelings?

i like to think that some of the shading that carried over from the cobalt makes the car look more realistic than just a color change woulda done, but i'm prolly just lying to myself.

    no hard feelings at all.
