    Cool Chevy Tahoe SS

Well, finally finished it. I got delayed with a few things, plus the power outages due to the storm in Washington (luckily my house's power didn't go out, but it became a "refugee camp" for my relatives during the power outages.

I got a good practice with different coloring techniques that make this drawing look a lot better than the Silverado SS drawing that I had put up weeks ago. I'm still learning to use different colors on a car, so I use a lot of reference material to see what colors are visible on a car if it were black, sitting on the beach at sunset.

Other than that, I tried to go with a more aerodynamic design for the Tahoe SS. The front grille has bigger openings, and there is no "ledge" to show a separated area for the bumper. I had to raise the grille a little since the whole thing looked like a minivan. I think it looks fine now. I also widened the car's width with the thicker fender flares and took some design cues from the Tahoe Hybrid (the rear sports more flare for aerodynamics).

Again, I don't have a scanner, and I'll never be able to get one due to money, and the fact that big sized scanners are hard to get. So, you're gonna have to deal with the hazy photos.

    Suggestions, tips, and criticism, welcome.

Wow! That is great! Excellent execution, and those projectors look really good on the Tahoe.

    Re: Chevy Tahoe SS

    Thanks guys.

About design school, I took normal art classes in junior high and high school and some in my first few years in college, but I didn't really attend any design school. Most of the things, I learned by myself, but I also have a good friend who also draws pretty well, and we like to share designing ideas, and drawing tips with each other, and we both learned from each other as well.

Oh, and rubberman, yeah; practice is really good, but also try going beyond what you normally do. I personally tried working with drawings by looking at real photos to see how cars really look in a real environment. Then I began to practice with that, and eventually, I'll begin to try my own drawings and shadings without the help of pictures. That's how my friend started out and it works really well for him!

Your amazing. This is such a cool looking SS. Even though I'm 14, if one of these came out tomorrow, I would take out loans and get a huge job to get one of these. Screw the $10,000 I'm droppin on mountian bikes next year.

If you sent these in to Motor Trend, I can almost guarantee they would get published...however I can respect you for not wanting to sell out like that. Keepin it underground at GMI .

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean . If you are refering to the size and type of the paper, I used 100 lb Bristol board that is 14 x 17 inches. Hope that helped .

Yeah, I was actually thinking about sending them to Motor Trend, or even Truck Trend, but you are right. I am not the type who likes to show my works to a lot of people.
