I love how you presented it! Your designs look like they could compete well with scion. I would however get rid of the split grill (unless you want to axe pontiac prior to releasing these) and to use the more modern Olds logo.
"Can Toyota recover?" genius!
My grille design is Hummer meets Pontiac. Especially on the OD4, the grille harks back to previous Oldsmobiles. I never liked the new Olds logo, simply because it wasn't symetrical. Scion was my main competition for this, but ideally Olds would be all environmentally friendly cars. Hybrids / electric / diesel/ ethanol, etc...
the saturn / olds flip-flop thing is going the be a fairly consistently used theme in here isn't it? i gotta get my own designs out there soon so as to jump on this bandwagon sooner, rather than later!
the text work is pretty weak, i've gotta say. the top line is off. needs to read either "Koreans take on ..." or "Korea's take on ..." or "Korea takes on ..."
also, you usually detail well enough that i'm surprised to see the white boxes behind your text. overall very disappointing.
oh, you designed cars, too? :p nice take on the olds grille. other than that, and the wheel arches, i don't see much similarity in design. that's either intentional, or i have a bad eye for these things. good work nonetheless.
The headline is correct if the guy that wrote the article is named "Korean" or if he himself was Korean.
I honestly do not see the white backgrounds around my text. Maybe it's the contrast of your/my monitor.
Regardless of all that, it is a design contest, not a publishing layout contest. I did the background just as an original way to show my pics.
The grille and wheel wells are the dominant design theme. I didn't want to make the same car twice. Family resemblance without pure imitation (Avalon/Yaris).
i know. its all tongue-in-cheek. contest-in, contest-out, you've got the most original presentations.
i like the cues, but is the grille satin-finish or chrome? it looks off-color, and not bright enough to be chrome. that's likely a remnant from the hummer donor.
is the OD4 a super-mini-ute? it looks a bit high to be a golf...
We will never and I mean NEVER see OLDS again........
and the point of your post is?Originally Posted by symdon
Well Rex, I like your idea, and your presentation. The satin finish grilles are a really nice idea, and the capture the look Oldsmobile pretty well. (I also like the fact that you used the old logo)
It was also a pretty cool idea to use oldsmobile as the "green" company (actually, I'm kicking myself for not thinking of that!)
I love it! I love it how it says the new Camaro Z/28. And ''Can Toyota Recover" That's the best part!
Wow Rex, I always thought you were an excellent chopper and this time you took it to the next level with great presentation! Very, very good. Probably my favorite entry so far.
I love it Rex, presentation and the chops. They are quirky but work out nicely.
Only problem I have is, having a "green division" starves the other divisions of technology. If you gave them the technology, why have Olds again? I'd swing more towards Scion competitor than green machines.
