camaro_freak's Malibu - got me thinking

I liked what camaro_freak did on his Malibu chop

However, I thought it could be taken a bit further though - and so I gave it a little more detail change.

Wrapped the lights around the corners and increased the size of the lower vents etc. Made the side windows larger and added a 'hip' to the side crease line. Added a tail lip spoiler to frame the taillights in a squarer box.

Looks like it has too big of cheek bones on the front bumper. They arent going to make it look like the new Silverado hopefully.

I like the rear but the bumper is far too big. They need to have some shape.

I think the rear is certainly an improvement over the current. There's something about it I just don't love and I'm not sure what it is. I like the second version the front better, but I don't like how the angle on the top corner is. Makes it look somehow squinty. I prefer the current Malibu face over yours, sorry. I especially don't like the use of chrome. I think it should all be body colour with maybe a thin chrome outline. JMO.

EDIT: I didn't see camaro_freak's beforehand. Did you the change the rear of his at all?

I like this one over the current one because of how the front ties in with the Volt. Although I'm not sure that polarizing styling is the way to go for Chevy.

The new Ford Fusion has a polarizing design and it's a great sales success. I personally think the current Malibu is a stylish, but very plain compared to the Fusion. Chevy needs an edgy design to stay competitive.

I like the rear lip spoiler - that is an excellent idea! and increasing the size of the lower fascia was nice too. I had made changes from the Buick but that size increase does help "fill in the gap"

I like the hip line on the side too - that and the adjustment to the greenhouse. Once Chase showed me his thoughts on that I had to agree - something has to be done to the green house.

I like where you are going with the headlights but soemthing is still off with the whole thing ... maybe and entirely different headlight

You both have chopping skills that amaze me and that I admire. I could not make a chop if someone held a gun to my head....I have no clue as to how you both do it, and with what kinds of software. You make it seem effortless.

Excellent original by camaro_freak and refinement by MonaroSS. I hope Chevy moves in this direction for the next Malibu.

Re: camaro_freak's Malibu - got me thinking

I have to say no on this. Great job, but the front seems too similar to an Acura. I really dislike the round taillights as well. The front works for the Volt because it is a new product and is "different" than anything else. Doesn't quite work on a Malibu.
