BlueEssEss' Buick GNX - Take Two

I decided to ditch the photochop route and go with either hand drawn, or a CG image based on a hand drawn pic. Here is my first draft, which is a doodle I did on the back of an assignment sheet in my Typography class. More to come soon (if I ever find the time).

hey, those look like the headlights off a sunfire!
(well, only kinda... besides, it seems like every time I post a design i draw sunfire comparisons, so i figured i'd share the fun. and i hate to admit it, but i really do like some of the design elements on teh sunfires....)

the monster front fender flare gives you a very strong RX-8 vibe. and those taillights are fantastic.

I would like to see that done in a little more detail. The overall shape is nice though. Maybe try the Viettes headlights to try and bring it in more with the line.

So lets see. Toyota lied about recalls. Lied about their HP ratings... I wonder how much truth is in their milage ratings..

Well, as I said this is only a doodle, so a more drtailed rendering will be on the way soon. I don't really think I need to use another car's headlights. This is just my biased opinion but I think it looks very "Buick-ish" already.

Headlights scream 'Sky' to me, but that's not a bad thing. This might make an interesting stretched Kappa idea.

Re: BlueEssEss' Buick GNX - Take Two

The only thing I'd suggest, and its prevalent in a lot of the designs in this contest, is make that slope to the roof's rear a bit more...normal? modern? not such a dramatic drop off.

That quick drop off works well for a boxy type of car, like the last GN, but it always seems to make these designs look like a smaller car, like a Fiero or something with its vertical rear window. Something very mid-engine about it...

That thing is freakishly awesome, though I agree with Avarno about the roof drop off.
    Never mind.

Point taken. The next rendering will have a traditional coupe roofline.
