Blown & Turbo Cobalt Coupe (Update)

    2012 Cobalt Coupe

I did a light pencil tracing of the new Malibu to get my proportions. Then fiddled with it, enlarged bits and shortened bits to get this coupe that I went over in blue biro. It's a little shaky as I haven't sketch in a long time so the curves I did a bit at a time and are not very confident; like some of the drawers on here. The ruled lines were easy though.

Anyway I see this as a Cobalt Coupe powered by a Supercharged and Turbocharged 2.2 litre (275hp) Four Cylinder (like VW is doing now) in both FWD and 4WD versions.

I have to decide if this sketch is worth Rendering.

Updated squared-off front and sleeker fastback.

Like everything except the front. It's sticking out too much. Bumper should extend further than the grille.

It looks like a mid 90's probe from the rear

I was going for a 300C kind of look. Maybe I just need to beef up the lower part.
My motivation is to juxtapose for contrast a bluff front against a very swept rear.
I may have to sweep the rear even more too.

why is this called Cobalt? Shouldn't it be a Chevelle or Malibu coupe?

I don't know anything much about the American FWD market. I Googled Chevy Coupe and got Cobalt. There is no modern Chevelle or Malibu coupe as far as I know. And while the current Cobalt is a smaller coupe there is no reason why it could not grow a little and use the small end of the new versatile Epsilon II platform.

I also don't see it as a V6 model, which is more in line with a Malibu Coupe. And I would never call a FWD car Chevelle. Even as a non-American I see that as heresy.

If there is some other more suitable name I would be interested......

    Chevette anyone ???????

I really like the swept rear, and the strong horizontal lines of it, however the front does seem a little bulbous.... I guess what might explain that is the rear and main body is a bit more angular feeling, while the upper portion of the front clip is seeing a softer, rounder treatment. The lower portion of the front clip is very fitting, it is just the grille area...

For some reason, it gives me a Cord Vibe, to quote a picture seen elsewhere in this competition:

Overall though, I like your reasoning behind the naming, I think it might be a good idea not to call it a Chevelle... got a good laugh out of that.

    Thanks Chase,

I've squared off the grille area and I've brought the lower bumper part out more as Rex suggested. I think it eliminates that 'nose' effect.

Edit: Yes, got caught --- deleted the multiposts.
It used to be 4pm local now it's 6pm with daylight savings..... Have to remember that....

any reason why the rims have an 8-lug dodge center? nice car though, mid-section I like.
