Add New Competition Ideas: also ETTE/ELLE SCORES POSTED

Below is my idea for a new way to post pics for the comp.

Below that are the Ette/Elle scores from the last comp.

Below that add your thoughts on topics for next comp.

Given that Rex doesn't have the time to do a lot of the tedious work involved in administering these comps I am suggesting a new system to unburden him.

When Rex posts the rules thread in the sticky threads section he could also post a "Number Registration - Drawings" thread and a "Number Registration - Photoshop" thread. These would be blank threads that we can post in and all we do is this:

The first person posts "1 - there onscreen name"

The second person posts "2 - there onscreen name"

The third person posts "3 - there onscreen name"

...and so on, making the numbers font size "7". Everyone entering that drawing or photochop comp does it at least once or twice if they are entering two pics. This gives everyone their final voting number for that pic.

Then we all start a new thread in the Normal Threads section as we have done always. But before or at the close of the comp we each have to go back into the Number Registration thread and edit our posts there. The edit we make is to post a single copy of our final pic or pics (no words etc) under our registration voting number(s). Pics should be kept in the 700 to 800 pixel width range for others convenience. Those who have trouble resizing, such as some in the drawing comp, can ask a volunteer to help.

This brings us to the final new sticky thread. Rex should add a Volunteers Thread in the sticky section where at least three people should post their preparedness to volunteer to individually count the votes after the comp closes. If their votes differ then the volunteers will reconcile the numbers among themselves. Others could post their availability to resize pics or guide others through resizing etc for entrants who need help.

What amounts to a few minutes extra work for each entrant will take hours of work off of Rex. If we do these things then without Rex having to do any work resizing and labelling, the "Number Registration" threads can be renamed the "Voting Threads" after people have posted into it their final pics under their numbers and names. Voters then vote as always in those same threads. No need for double handling.

And with others volunteering to count the votes at the end, then Rex will just have to oversee the comps.

    What do you guys think?

To kick it off, I volunteer to count and post that count of the votes in the old ette and elle comp to close that comp out to make way for a new comp. I’ll do that within this week. Do I have two others who will offer to confirm that count?

Re: New way to conduct Competition

well if rex desides to keep it the way it is I can help with the monthly contests by counting up the votes.
that way all rex has to do is post the results I give him and the winning entries.
but I can't help with the weekly ones...
anyway if you want my help let me know soon

    Chevelle Chop Comp:

    CONGRATULATIONS:

Entry 5 "FBODYRULES" in first place with 107 points.

Entry 1 "CAMAROCHRIS" in second place with 38 points.

Entry 2 "MONTESS2K" in third place with 35 points.

Entry 4 "MONAROSS" honourable mention with 34 or 36 points.

The full point count in order of entries were:

38,35,24,36,107,24. OR 38,35,24,34,106,24 depending upon the intent of voter “CBECK” who posted the following:

    112 ALL THE WAY

If he meant to vote the same as “likearock” did then the first set of points count. If he meant only to vote for 112 only then the second set applies.

The trouble for me is that if the first set applies I come third, if they don’t I come fourth. Given that clearly “CBECK” wanted 112 to win I assume he wanted to make his vote count in such a manner, and I concede away the 2 points I otherwise would get from his vote.

Took me about 2 1/2 hours to do it, but with a system worked out should have taken about 2 hours. And that was with double the normal votes to count with both Ette and Elle making it two comps in one. So a normal comp should take an hour to count and post.

If I get some time in the next week I might try my above suggestion and post an unofficial voting thread for Hummer-time! in the form I described. I'll just copy and paste all the pics into a drawing and a chop thread and people can vote as normal. If Rex wants to make it official he can rename it and move it to a sticky thread.

    No problem mate!

How about ideas for the next comp? I'm still partial to something with a modern Corvair.

Or how about a comp which modifies pics of the new Holden VE Commodore or WM Statesman to be a new Chev, Pontiac, Buick or Saturn.
