    2015 Tesla Model III concept

Tesla Model III concept. Designed as an affordable Tesla hatchback priced around $30K. Would compete directly with BMW i3, Chevrolet Bolt, and Nissan LEAF.

A notable feature is the windshield that extends over the passenger area, as if the windshield and sunroof were joined. If you opt out of the expanded sunroof option, you can get optional solar panels on the roof instead. While this won't charge the car, if you park in the sun, these solar panels will power the AC unit so you can enter a cool car even if parked in full sun.

I may be on the side of angels, but do not mistake me for one.

The drawing is very well done. The concept is right up Tesla alley, but the Tesla design/face works better for me on larger cars. With that said, good job!

From Tesla? Expect it to cost closer to $80k, and compete directly with.....well nobody.

Opel has previously offered that "panoramic windshield" idea on cars. It can certainly be done, but.....If I remember correctly, there was only one plant in the world (in Peru of all places) even capable of making that glass, and they had a 50% scrap rate. HUGELY expensive too. And you still will have the front header and cross bows inside the glass. That glass isn't going to do anything for crash or roof crush test requirements.

AC takes a lot of power. Most companies that have tried solar roof panels have used them to just run a small fan in an effort to make the interior heat at least a tiny bit less.

Isn't Tesla supposed to be coming out with something in the $30k range in the near future? GM's Bolt is the answer to it....
