    2008 Ford Focus ( Facelift )

When I first saw what the re-designed 2008 Focus would look like, I was taken aback with its square, life-less front end. Sure a few people like it, but I find the design so ugly, looking like a re-incarnated 1995 Escort, I think Ford seriously needs to re-consider their design.

So I went to work taking design elements from the Euro Focus, but kept in check with their new 3-bar-grille design. Here is what I came up with...

Let me know what you think. I know its a little rough around the edges, was for a contest, finished it under time constraints, might tweak it a bit later, just wanted some feedback on the overall design.

That's actually pretty nice. You fixed my main problems with it, the gap under the 2 bar grill, and the horribly ungly lower fascia.

I like both but I prefer the original. I think Ford should take a break from making every car look the same.

While I certainly appreciate the effort..I like the original. I think that Ford has the market had the market on the Escort and they certainly know hwat they are doing with the direction of the Focus. Ford is a good car company and over the years they have definitely influnced the charizmatic impact on the consumer base. With VW and Mazda innovating our world Ford may need to step it up a bit. I just feel that your concept is a step backward. Just constructive ctriticism.

    I appreciate your criticisms.

However, I don't agree with you on the direction they are taking the focus. You may see it as a step backwards, but I see it as a safe bet to a car company that is not doing well right now. They need to sell a lot of these cars. They should play off the design elements of the Fusion, one of their more popular cars, and create a car that will might be more of the same, but not offensive. The last thing Ford needs to be doing right now is risking the class it helped establish.

For me, seeing this car parked next to a Cobalt, Astra, Civic, Caliber, or Corolla, I don't see why anyone would see this as the "must have" car. I want to see Ford succeed, and maybe their current design will work for them, who knows, but for me, I still think it's ugly as sin, and many people in the automotive community agree.

Yeah, a very good job here, both in terms of your technique and the result... That shows that they could've taken the Euro Focus as is and the Gillette grille would've fit it better than it does (or actually, doesn't at all) the old Focus or the 500...

    Re: 2008 Ford Focus ( Facelift )

It looks very good. I think someone has already complained about the gap of the three bar grille and the bumper underneath. Ford did this in the Fusion, which makes it seem incomplete. I guess it is a lot easier to put together with a big gap, or maybe it will not look as bad if there are factory quality problems.

Another thing I don't like is that you kept the little round off in the back side window that is in the real car. I would have like to see a little pointy corner. Other than my two complaints, very well done!
I'll make a new sig. Later.
