why are articles being moved so fast?

Articles that don't get posted to the ticker used to sit for a few days.

Now they dissappear instantly. Just because an article isn't necessarily GMI front page news doesn't mean that its not interesting to the community as a whole. Many articles that never made it to the ticker had many responses.

This forum used to have the best articles.

Can we keep articles for here for more than a millisecond?

They don't get deleted. They are moved to the appropriate discussion forums if we don't think it is news ticker material( be it the general car lounge, Chevy car discussion, Cadillac&Buick, etc).

This ↑. So much. "Hi I'm (insert name here). Been lurking here for a while, but this is my first post. I've got a problem with my '86 Fiero." Tech section, not member intros.

I just posted something about a non-GM vehicle, but it wasn't newsworthy, so it doesn't go to the section where it will show up in the ticker.

The mods are actually doing their jobs, don't get frightened by it.

Re: why are articles being moved so fast?

The task of sorting, moving and editing threads is something I have been doing here on an almost daily basis since I was appointed as a staffer many years ago, because if I don't keep on top of this it doesn't take long for suggested news threads to build up in the 'suggest' forum and elsewhere. I also regularly move threads from one discussion forum to another if I feel it has been posted in the wrong forum. It’s a thankless task, but someone has to do it!

The length of time a thread appears on the News Ticker is governed by the time it was originally posted and how many news threads have been posted after it. Some days the News Ticker might move slowly and other day’s fresh news might be dumped down in a matter of hours depending on the volume of fresh news threads.

I hope this clears things up. Cheers
