Who decides what's Front Page News?!?

How can the next generation Cruze reveal NOT be on the front page???

It's bigger news than 99% of what makes it to the front page... yet it's somehow not there?

Likely GM's most important global model, or close to it.

Could you imagine, say, the wraps finally getting lifted on the next generation Golf-Jetta not being front page news on VWinsidenews.com? Or the very first look the world ever gets of the brand new next gen Corolla being nowhere to be seen on the front page of ToyotaInsideNews?

Seems like the mods have taken a vacation or are all at NY. Maybe they're saving the front page for Mulally's retirement announcement?

Typically the front page is for articles written by the staff. With very little info given out by GM through its US PR, and most of us in NY covering the show, we could not get it on the front page before a huge thread had already been posted on. When the Cruze makes its US debut, you will see it up there.

The front page is incredibly unfriendly and frankly doesn't do anything we want it to.

So no, we don't put a huge focus on it.

I still don't understand how to get something on the front page and I've been a mod for years.

I've asked for a new front page for the better part of the last 4 years. Still haven't seen it.

Maybe you should, it's the first thing anyone sees when they come to the site. A little effort goes a long way... I think it's more about consistency than about whether it's friendly or unfriendly.

I've seen mods post gibberish articles they've found in the news feed and confined some really interesting and popular articles that members post to the dungeons of the website where things go to die.

    No disrespect intended.

The Gods control the front page. You just never appease them with poster sacrifices.

Here's my point of view. Personally, I don't even go to the front page, except for maybe once a month or if I know something big is coming. Multiple other reasons keep me from posting much front page news. With so many members who hunt for news stories, they tend to toss everything in the "Suggest a news article" section. If we choose to use that & build a thread from it, we typically have to clean it up to format it for consistency. Then we have to move it to the appropriate forum. Headline news is typically ready to go because GM has fed (on of) us enough advanced info to write up a cohesive first article. Otherwise, I determine whether the article that we use to start a thread is just news to fit into the appropriate news forum or if it's enough of a blockbuster to warrant front page coverage. The hottest topics are found by some members & commented on enough to stay at the top of the most recent post (shown for each sub-forum). But, the simple answer is any of the staff have the ability to make something front page news. Oh, Fenwick, you're about to get a PM.

what would you like to see from the home page?

I can ask the editorial team if they can post on the home page?
