    Thread update notifications

I've noticed that when I click settings and there are new comments, if I don't check them that day the thread disappears as if I've read the updated comments even though I didn't.
My other sites will keep that notification there until I read them. Any way to fix this?

    Hey there,

The full list of your new comments on subscribed posts would be found on the "Subscriptions" page under the "My subscription" Tab on the left hand side of your profile page.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you,

    Richard

    Re: Thread update notifications

When I click settings the updated threads should be there and are, however if I decide to wait until the next day to read them the updated threads are gone and when I go to a thread where I know I didn't read the latest post there is no 'go to latest post' link, as if I had already read it when I know for a fact that I never saw it.

    Re: Thread update notifications

I wasn't referring to my comments but new comment posted by anyone in a thread. For some reason if I don't check on the thread that day the next day the site acts as if I read the new post even though I didn't.

Can you try clearing your cookies and cache and see if this continues?

    Re: Thread update notifications

I tried that already. I also added ghostery to get rid of the multiple trackers on this site but that didn't work either.
I am on a Mac using the latest version of OSX and Safari

    Re: Thread update notifications

Are you referring to your subscribed threads?
If not, that may be your best bet to get around this issue.
Try subscribing to the threads you are interested in and, you can follow them in the subscription tab.

If this does not fly, can you try doing this in another browser?
And let us know if that worked?

    Thank you,

    ~Richard.

Yes, those are my subscribed threads. I'll try it out on another browser and let you know

    Re: Thread update notifications

The updates page is based on when you log in, if you log out and back in it will display others or none whatever the circumstance based on your log in behavior unfortunately there isn't a way to change this regularly however it should still show which ones are recent on your subscriptions page mentioned above.

    Re: Thread update notifications

Yet it acts as if I've read the most recent messages even when I know I didn't, that's the strangest part. No other website does this. Even if I don't check my subscribed threads for days there is still the click to latest post activated and takes me to where I left off.

Are you saying the subscriptions page itself doesn't recognize read vs unread either?

Yes, if I see new comments on a subscribed thread, if I don't read them that day the next day the thread drops off as if I had read all the new comments and if I click on that Thread there will be no 'view first unread' button.

Read marking is set to cookie based and on a 10 day auto clear so if the new content is 10 days old or more it will auto mark as read.
