Question POLL! Sales reporting, old or new way?

For last month's reporting, we used a new method, as evidenced here

Instead of separate threads for each company's releases, it was all consolidated. Both the comment count and view count were very high when compared to previous monthly results reporting threads.

Some liked being able to cross compare the numbers all in one spot, while others thought it disrupted the flow of discussion.

Sound off: which do you like? New method or the previous method?

I prefer the new as well. Ive gone back to the thread about 20 times to see the numbers of random cars just for my curious nature. Way easier to go to ONE thread than to go to 10 different ones.

It may be "nice" to see the data in one spot, but its awful for the flow of conversation.

There are much cleaner sources of monthly, YTD and YOY data for comparative purposes.

Maybe a locked sticky of the numbers and then thread topics by MFG?

New method. Much more streamlined and convenient.

Re: POLL! Sales reporting, old or new way?

I prefer the new approach as well.

My only suggestion: would it be possible to come up with a consistent format that could be used for all manufacturers?

Agreed, the new method is good for review but not for discussion purposes. Too much information in a single thread limits what is discussed.

That's an excellent suggestion. And the approach for showing the results of the various manufacturers (screen shots) should be reconsidered. They're hard to read (due to how the image is captured) and inconsistent across manufacturers. The way AutoBlog does their reporting is better.

Re: POLL! Sales reporting, old or new way?

I'm wondering if there is a better way of ordering the sales results in the first post.

Is there currently an order defined by something? Can we list the companies alphabetically (after GM, Ford, Chrysler and maybe Toyota)?

I find myself constantly scrolling up and down that first post to locate the data for some of the smaller companies. If they were listed alphabetically it would be a lot quicker to find the data.
Research is what I am doing when I don't know what I am doing.

Buick, just want to say thanks again, after reviewing the September version. Plum good work.

    Ditto.

And thank you Buick61, for all the work and making sure it comes from the OEM's themselves.

The current order is defined. It's Americans, Asians, Germans. Within those, it's in decreasing order of company size/sales.

I like the new method. Everything's in one place and it keeps the home page cleaner.

    Thanks Buick61.
