    GMInsidenews.com's Wikipedia entry

I just happened to out of curiosity look up GMI on wiki and it is dismally small and vague at best… and not really flattering or descriptive of the features of the site or what type of experience one can expect posting on GMI.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMInsideNews

Perhaps some of GMI's writers could at some time flesh out the info with a real history detailing those who got it started and ran it etc through to current times. A bit like Nick's Blog about GMI over the years but fleshed out from the very beginning and who some of the key staff were etc. Maybe some anecdotal memories of interesting members now gone…

Any other ideas what the wiki entry should tell people curious about this site?

    Does need fleshing out, Monaro.

Someone might mention that GMI now offers ElectroConvulsiveShock Therapy as part of the pricy membership benefits, as well as free ice cream cones every Tuesday at the beautiful and elegant GMI Headquarters Building, which is in either Dearborn or Auburn, MI.

Someone needs to add the entry:

GMI is an Internet Forum focused on disgruntled Pontiac fan(s) clogging up the forum with useless threads where they provide even more useless threats to General Motors management, in the vacuous hopes that Pontiac will rise out of the ashes.

It doesn't even mention the new Chinese headquarters in cherry blossoming in Shengzhen.....

But seriously, there is not even a link to Facebook or how people can follow on Twitter, not that I'm into social media - but the young are...

If you hate Cadillac, and freely lambast GM while desiring the untimely demise of Buick at the same time that you wax poetically about the Prius, Ford, and Hyundai than we have a place on the internet that you can call home.
I want a car so violent that the mere thought of full throttle would cause a heart attack. That actually going wide open throttle in would result in nothing less than instant death!

Canadians own it. If you scroll down to the bottom of this or any page you will see the other sites in the AutoGuide.com Group which even includes ToyotaNation.com.

If you click on the AutoGuide.com name down there and then go to the bottom of their front page and click on 'About Us', then you find they are owned by http://www.verticalscope.com/ and you also get to links to this page http://www.autoguide.com/forumnetwor...ties/index.php which lists the 140 odd forums they own.

It was all started in 1997 by a 16 year old Toronto kid called Rob Laidlaw in his parents basement. http://www.rob-laidlaw.com/

VerticalScope has 300 plus websites and they basically let the forums be run independently and they sell and channel the advertising through them based on market demographics etc. As they say "Through targeted acquisitions and development, VerticalScope has built a portfolio of more than 300 websites with more than 25 million aggregate pages of content and more than 25 million unique visitors per month - and growing."

Rob Laidlaw and Roger Penske (Internet Brands, which also owns VBulletin) compete against each other to be the largest auto forum owners in the world.

It should highlight a few of the sites exclusives i.e important articles, significant written pieces, exclusive sightings of upcoming products etc.
