GM Creates OnStar Mobile App for Your Smartphone

This is really confusing. I used to have an OnStar app on my phone (still have it, been to lazy to delete it) that I assume did everything this new app will do. Yet they discontinued the app and made me switch to myCadillac; which as far as I can tell does the exact same thing as the OnStar app did. So is myCadillac going away and back to OnStar that will continue to do the exact same thing?

The GM apps are so frustrating. They randomly work or don't work week to week. I like how it integrated with my watch, but it's just too unreliable to trust on a regular basis.

I've never had an issue, but I just use it to start my car on occasion.

I used to try and use it on a weekly basis to leave my keys in the car while at the gym or send directions to my dash navigation, but the app would keep logging me out every month or so. Then sometimes it just won't recognize my username/password. A week later everything is fine. Frustrating. I gave up and don't trust it anymore. I tried using it last week and I couldn't log in. Maybe this week I can? The only thing I really wish my truck had was AppleCarPlay. I might get an aftermarket module added to my truck if I don't upgrade this year. Still trying to decide between a pool and a truck.

It was a bit of a "bait and switch" starting in 2018 model year I believe, the "free app" only worked if you signed-up for a "pay" OnStar Plan, I loved mine for the first 6 months, deleted it, because the value was gone, it would still try to sell me stuff, but not start my truck.

I've always paid for the minimum package, I feel like if I land my car in a ditch someday I'll be kicking myself because I wouldn't pay that $25 a month for the car to notify OnStar I've been in an accident. i'm probably a sucker, but it gives me piece of mind.
