Escalade-V? Customers, Dealers Want it, Says Caddy

All the cool (German) kids are doing it, so why wouldn’t Cadillac? The vogue for big performance SUVs may soon hit the Cadillac if comments made by Cadillac’s Escalade product manager, Dave Schiavone, to Detroit publication Muscle Cars & Trucks are anything to off. “Ever since we came out with the V-Series on the CTS, we’ve […]

A V Escalade is a no brainer.. no need for Blackwing, just a V.. Twin turbo or Supercharged, MRC, PTM and massive Carbon Ceramics.. with the obligatory quilting..flappy paddle s..... ZL1 transmission.... no third row and executive seating in the back AWD.. under 4 seconds to 60.... $200K.. plus.... They would sell each and every one of them

I've been saying this for years.
Put a big 'ol GM Monster Crate Motor in it, offer bespoke interiors and they will have people lining up to write that big check.

Well DUH! It's Cadillac's flagship and they are just realizing that they need higher-end V models? WTF? They should have Blackwing and V-Series models available.

I get people wanting to see a V Escalade, but what is everyone expecting from it? It's way to heavy, tall and ungainly to be a real performer. They can make it accelerate quickly, but otherwise it will not be much of a handler. But if people want it, I'm fine with GM building it!

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk makes 707 HP and needs 3.5" to hit 60mph. I don't see how an Escalade which is bigger/heavier can do it under 4 seconds with any current engine GM currently has at their disposal and I don't see GM coming out with any new large displacement motors. My bet is a battery powered Cadillac V series SUV based on the Hummer coming out.

Like I said a long time ago...4dr coupify the Escalade, chuck in the LT5 from the ZR1...throw on some massive CC brakes on 24x11 wheels and price it at 150k to start

Battery will make more sense as their lower center of gravity will impart better handling (won't be a Corvette, but still handle better than the ICE Escalade).

Odd, so many people up in arms about the change in the V yet no issue with putting the V badge on something that can't be a great performance vehicle due to its size/weight/bulk.

Hmm...a theoretical $150k, 765hp, 5500lb coupe ute on 315 series tires on all 4 corners capable of low 4s runs to 60 sounds excessive and uneccessary which is right in line with what V used to mean before they stuffed a base Silverado motor in an uglier ATS and cut the balls of the CTS VSport.

I don't think anybody will have any expectations that an Escalade V would turn laps at Nürburgring. Like sdot said, just put a larger Vette engine in (or maybe an electric motor), lower it slightly, bigger brakes, some other luxury touches and you'll have rich people dropping $150k on another V series.

Thanks...folks tend to get all wrapped up with lateral Gs and laptimes when all that really matters is how over the top the car is. In terms of performance, does anyone think that Dodge gives a damn about how many lateral Gs a Durango HC can pull? Nope, but I bet they'll sell ever single one of them for over 100k

And I have no issue with that at all, just as I have no issue with the expansion of the V brand. If the Escalade customer wants a V, I'm all for building it.

It just surprises me that some treated the expansion of the V lineup as if it was the very death of Cadillac and what V means. Yet no complaints about putting a V badge on a vehicle that is little more than a brick as far as performance capabilities are concerned.
