Mine will also be 20 in '24, but it has 197K on it right now.

You are currently driving an (almost) 20 year old base Silverado and you are worried about the timing of the next MCE?

A 1999 Silverado would be an upgrade if you can find one that isn't all rotted-out.

    ^ That's nice, financially-efficient consumerism, right there!
Based on my purchase price and approx value today, I'm in mine at about 11 cents/mile.

What does base model or age have to do with anything ?

It's funny the dealer tried to get me to buy the top of the line Silverado with 4wheel steer and I had zero interest in it and ordered a base model work truck , top of the line vehicles do not interest be in the least my next Silverado will be the base model work truck also .

That's my point; why then do you care about the next MCE refresh?

I was just curious it would be kind of neat to have the new interior and electrical system that I have heard GM is going to have .

It's also possible they could uglify it with a change of face like they did to the Colorado.

I can see both sides of this.

If I was likely to keep the next one as long as the last one and didn't especially like the current one a refresh would be desirable.

On the other hand styling means little or nothing to me so I would be tempted by the bargains likely to be created around final examples of a less loved versions being replaced.

Is your old one rusty? I find it, especially the powertrain, much more appealing than anything they're building now.

"new electrical system"? The current truck is on the new T1XX platform, I think we all expect "fixes" to the interior and a revised face, but I don't foresee any significant upgrade to the electrical system, what and where have you heard that?

Would that be an improvement? Aren't they basically putting the current Silverado face on the 2021 Colorado?

I think it was on some other website that said GM is going to have the new Corvette electrical architecture in the full GM lineup in a few years .

That's the thing too. Depends on what the new ones and upgrades are like. Another last of the run current model is not a bad choice sometimes.

That wouldn't happen in the MCE; 2025 (2026 model year) is the next redesign.

There is some truth to that...........

In 1999 I bought the brand-new GMT800; it was a nice truck, but loads of problems, I should have bought the 1999 GMT400 Classic.

    In 2003 I bought the out-going F-150; trouble-free and an absolute deal.

So far so good on my 2018 Sierra, and I'm hearing of lots of problems with the 2019's, go-figure..............
