Free Oxidized-Iron-Derivatives is a no-cost option that should be appreciated.

Just imagine spending $70K+ on a Sierra Denali HD with a Duramax and opening the hood and seeing this. This was at the Mpls Auto Show a couple weeks ago. I wiped my thumb on it and got orange rust dust on it.

And what's with the cheesy taped up harness?

Where is that at, the rear wheel-well?

That trunk-liner material is throwing me off. (which is a joy to clean by the way) and speaking from experience, when you get all the frozen slush/ice packed-up, the days of giving it a targeted kick and falling to the ground is gone.

Even while listening to Lennon's song,

    I cannot imagine paying that.

I also can't imagine what he saw in Yokoko, but I guess they were both crazy.

I popped the hood on my 2014 to look at the engine and noticed the manifolds were already rusty with a whopping 124 miles on them. To be fair, every vehicle I've ever owned, the manifolds rusted quick. I just didn't realize they'd gotten THAT hot in 124 miles.

Oh for GODSAKE. This is the funniest and saddest stuff I have ever seen from so-called enthusiasts. The Video was even icing on the cake, with a quick shout out to the Ram. a simple Google search for rust on new car will yield you countless examples from all countries, all manufacturers. If its that much of a thing for you, spray the thing with black paint and move the hell on.

Brand new 12 Subaru Legacy http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea....html?t=186094

Rust had rust on the undercarriage, exhaust system, the rear wheel assembly (rear suspension knuckles, etc.). on 2013 Ford Escape: http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion...e-4wd-titanium

In February 2012, while working in Hershey, PA I purchased a 2012 Dodge Challenger SXT. I took delivery of the car on February 22, 2012, with 12 miles on the odometer. About 2 weeks later, while having some exhaust work done, the mechanic and I observed rust, yes I said RUST, forming and dveloping on what i consider CRITICAL suspension and sterring components, such as the struts, strut plates, control arm bushings and tierod ends.

So LM, would you be OK with opening the hood on your $70K Stingray and finding rusted components before it even had it's first wash?

Does a $25K Subaru having similar rust make it OK?

    Enthusiasts care. Apologists make excuses.

No VMax I would not like to see it, but if it were surface rust I would't think two seconds about as I rolled up to Advanced Auto and bought a can of Rustoleum Black. Quite frankly I would look at it as a Sunday project and make it look damn nice to boot. That goes for any no painted surface that is exposed under the car etc. Why not? If you are that worried about it, and you live in an area where salt and what not is spread on the road regularly, it should be the first thing you Mod

I think people here cry to be crying.

Really? You would be OK with spending $70K on a premium sports car (or Sierra Denali HD Duramax) and going to an auto store to buy a can of spray paint to cover up rusted underhood components on a BRAND NEW car/truck?

Wow. Just wow. You never cease to amaze me LM.
I didn't say cover up, I said if it were surface rust, I'd brillo it off and paint the whole area. Get a grip Slim. In truth though, I haven't had to do it, but if I did, I wouldn't waste my time worrying about it... having a clue about oxidation and the limitations of modern metals and all. Grow up.
