    GM Fleet in Iraq

Interesting - didn't know GM Fleet was available in Iraq:

    http://www.gmfleet.com/us/about/related/gm_in_iraq.html

Through collaborative partnerships with local distributors, GM has enjoyed a thriving presence throughout the Middle East for over 55 years. Today, the company is uniquely positioned to meet the emerging demand for vehicles in Iraq. A comprehensive product portfolio validated for use in local driving conditions, broad availability of parts shipped from a modern distribution center in Dubai, as well as the expertise of local bilingual technicians are among the many resources available to GM's fleet clients.

Below you will find links with information on vehicles available for your business requirements in Iraq. For additional information on vehicles and services in this market please contact Mr. Moran and Mr. Fahim at the numbers below. You may also visit http://www.gmarabia.com.

I think it'd be pretty funny if they sold Hummers there.

I can just imagine the cautious look on some innocent civilian's face as he drives very quickly through Baghdad.

    Re: GM Fleet in Iraq

If you're interested, the same distributor for Iraq (Al-Mansour Automobile Corporation) also distributes GM vehicles in Egypt.

    Chevrolet Aveo
    Chevrolet Optra
    Chevrolet Dabbabah
    Opel Corsa
    Opel Astra

The Corsa is a sedan (possibly with Brazilian origins) and the Astra is the same as the Chevy Astra in Brazil. The Aveo and Optra are as in Iraq. The Dabbabah is the same as the Isuzu D-Max.

Also if you look carefully in newscasts, you might notice lots of 1981ish Malibus in the background. Tonnes of those got exported to Iraq in the early 80s, I think it was some kind of deal between GM, the Canadian Govt (they were built at Oshawa), and Saddam.

    To elaborate on my point.
In fact, Al-Mansour Automotive Corporation is the ONLY distributor of GM vehicles in Egypt. GM actually builds them through a deal with the Mansour family.
