First New Silverado Regular Cab Short Bed Spotted

I knew GM wasnít stupid enough to just kill off the Silverado regular cab short bed. Itís got too big of a cult following. Here is the picture taken from Instagram supposedly in Mexico:

Hate to say it, but I think that truck might be Mexico only. From what I understand, the RCSB fell victim to the new GHG emissions regulations, which are figured on vehicle footprint. Sincerely hope I am wrong.

I sure hope so as I had planned on keeping my 2017 Silverado for a few years and then eventually get the new RC/SB. If Sierra12 is correct, GM has lost me as a truck customer.

Yeah when I saw that this morning, boy did I get my hopes up.....

Then I saw this a few minutes ago:

Hmmmm....why would gm authority be blocked from this site? Article states no reg cab standard bed for 2019.

There is a pic of the new Sierra RCSB too but for some reason I’ve “exceeded my quota” on GMI to upload images. Great looking trucks!

Have a coworker that thought he'd be able to order a RCSB (he has a GMT-900 one now) and was pretty excited about it. Yesterday he said that he was told they weren't accepting orders "right now". He mentioned going over to Dodge if he can't get one. Seeing this photo gave me some hope for his sake, but now it sounds like that might have been false hope? Bummer.

Latest rumor is GMC will offer a RCSB but not Chevy. First peek at the GMC and it looks great!

Lets hope so. You would think if the GHG story was true, GM could get around it by restricting engine options to the 2.7L turbo 4 cylinder or 4.3L. Maybe even the new diesel.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I prefer the front end and wheel arch styling of the Silverado, but I'd be interested in the Sierra if its the only one available.

Re: First New Silverado Regular Cab Short Bed Spotted

In one sense this is encouraging - that there could be a RC Std Box if the winds of regulation change.

In the meantime the whole problem here in the US is the EPA/CAFE footprint metric. It's government picking winners and blowing up the wheelbase and tread of the pickups because of what **** Cheney and Norman Manetta did back in 2007.

Notice too that the RC std. box is also a Trail Boss and looks like a million bucks. It's especially tragic since it appears Chevy FINALLY got a cab that has a little space behind the seat.

There is a ton of pics of the RCSB's on Instagram in Mexico and the Middle East. Hard to believe they won't at least offer them here.
