Well, Chevy has a press event scheduled at 4:00 PM on Thursday, February 11 at the Chicago Auto Show. Wasn't this where the concept Colorado ZR2 was first shown last year?

Nope, it was shown the weekend before thanksgiving because I remember commenting about it with the dealer manager when I bought my sierra because he himself owned a zr2 back in the day.

Us truck folks in Canada really get screwed when it come to these new models! We are always last to see what ever is the latest. Dealers are saying that we won't see Canyon/Colorado Duramax Trucks maybe by the summer of 16. No High Country trucks in the new brown color, No Ultimate Denali trucks.

Re: The 2015 Colorado/Canyon Information Thread

Took delivery on my 2016 Canyon All Terrain with the 2.8L diesel on February 14. Had it for almost a month already with 400 miles mixed driving (mostly my traffic filled commute).

So far, average mpg on first tank has been 20.13mpg hand calculated (this time of year my old V8 Envoy averaged 12.5-ish). Absolutely Love the ride quality and how quiet it is. No one has even noticed it's a diesel so far. It has a little turbo lag from a dead stop, but once it spools up it moves pretty well empty. It's not anywhere near as quick as my old Envoy with the 300hp 5.3L V8 and I'm a bit more sheepish about pulling into traffic and passing than I would be with that vehicle, but that's to be expected. Transmission hunts gears a little more than I would like, but it could just still be learning. It's not bad enough to be annoying though. The variable vane brake is great, as the engine itself doesn't provide much engine braking if you downshift. I find myself turning tow/haul/trailer brake mode on often.

    Nitpicks:
    1. Seat could use more thigh support
    2. Pocket only on the back of one seat looks cheap (Envoy had both)
    3. No more locking glovebox
    4. No homelink buttons
    5. Preferred the Envoy's handbrake to the footbrake.
    6. Tires look so small in the wheel-wells, definitely going bigger once these wear out.

The only major annoyance is the oil they spec is a 5w-30 Dexos2. Having a diesel heavy equipment shop, we use 5w-40 (cj-4) in everything nowadays and buy it by the 55 gallon drum. Having to buy a special oil for this truck is a disappointment. Not sure what effect running cj-4 oil would have, but I imagine you're going to get a lot of fleet guys running it, regardless of what the manual says.

All in all, I've been waiting for the truck since the first week the order books opened and I'm quite happy with it. Hopefully we'll get to spend the next 200,000+ miles together.

I celebrated my one-year anniversary with my 2015 Canyon 4WD SLT Crew Cab Long Bed on February 28th (and came out of a 2006 GMC Envoy 4.6L I6 myself). I agree with each of your six points quoted above. I'm leasing my Canyon (39 mos), so I'm debating whether or not I want to tackle the "small tire" issue or not.

US is getting all the Duramax Colorado / Canyon trucks. Only way to get one in Canada is to order one! That sucks!

Re: The 2015 Colorado/Canyon Information Thread

My local Calgary dealer says they are being told not to expect any ZR2 Colorados until fall of 17 and that they will be 2018 trucks. So that will make almost 4 years from the first notion of these trucks be produced to actually being for sale.*

Wow! he way GM is going with this, the new Ford Ranger will beat them to the sales lots! Not Good enough GM!

In Canada maybe. One guy on another forum is expecting his ZR2 sometime next month.

Deliveries of everything seem to be a bit slow right now, my Denali is to be delivered today after a three month wait. I understand a few ZR2 trucks are on rail cars now.

Re: The 2015 Colorado/Canyon Information Thread

Finally was able to take possession of Denali on 5-4-17 and what a beauty. If it had arrived when first expected I would have been in Canton Texas on the day five tornadoes touched down. I guess there is a reason for everything.
Back to the Denali it drives quite different than the 2015 i had, transmission shifts a lot more and is not as smoth as the 6 speed. Engine has more zip or a combination of engine and tranny make the difference. Have just seventy miles on it so far so will reserve further judgement until i drive it a bit more. Interior is just one step above my SLT and really nice.
