2013 Avalanche 5.3 engine & vehicle life expectancy

Does anyone have a high mileage 2013 Avalanche? Curious how many miles have you got out of it before any problems. I have had 5 Avalanches with no problems, but never kept 1 past 120k till this 2013. Ready for a new vehicle but nothing they build now can match it. All the trucks are a mile long now! The 130"wb is perfect for city use. Please let me know what problems you have had after 120K. Thanks!

I can't speak to the Avalanche specifically, but my friend had to have the 5.3L in his Suburban rebuilt @ 200k miles. Think it cost him about $2-3k, and he has been driving it for a year since then w/out any major issues.

    Best of Luck!

The truck you've got is 7 years old and +100,000 miles at this point, it is worth more to you than anyone else, especially since you like it.

Just keep driving it, what is the worst that can happen?

If/when it becomes a money-pit, then you can get rid of it without reservation.

Exactly, just make sure it gets its regularly scheduled maintenance.

get an earlier one with the 6.0L IF you can depending if you are in the USA OR NOT as the 5.3L has failure prone lifters that wipe out the engine and the 6.0L do not but the 2500 with the 6.0 was not sold in the USA but in Canada / Mexico

I think if I had a 5.3 AFM truck that I wanted to drive til it pukes, I'd go to an LS shop and have them do a cam/lifter swap and AFM delete. That's really about the only weak link and not hard to rectify. Even with that, 5.3s are a dime a dozen and LS's easy to work on that even if the motor did take a dump, and I really liked the truck, I'd swap in something else.

I have heard of 6.0Ls going over 500K MILES with nothing more then oil pump change doing city P/D delivery work in cube vans and the 5.3L other than the "AFM" is as good if not better
if you found one you LOVE and want to keep forever an "AFM" delete with a "hotter" cam swap and then just drive it as it might outlast you with basic care
