    XT5 Next to SRX

Attachment 36145XT5 is more expensive, refined and sleeker looking. interior design is more of an MCE compared to the SRX.
From the side it looks much better than SRX. More rear legroom a few inches less cargo room.

There goes the theory (at least twixt these 2) that A&S has gotten softer & blander.

Does make the Srx front fascia look a little amateurish.

I don't agree on the interior, looks night and day for me. I keep getting SRX's as loaners when I take my car in for service. I don't feel like I'm in a luxury car when inside an SRX vs. my ATS. The XT5 looks luxurious to me.

From the front; bigger grille, smaller headlights, dare I say the average person will be pressed to notice the differences from the side or rear (unless they are parked side-by-side).

I would (assume & hope) the interior is much improved or the pre-Bankruptcy designed SRX.

My wife didn't notice any difference when I pointed out the XT5 at the NY Auto Show if that is any indication. I must have rosy colored fan glasses on as I see a lot of change, which is why I like to hear my wife's opinion on cars (however, I don't need to hear her opinion on how to drive ).

We passed one last night (it was still daylight); I pointed it out to my wife as is passed us going in the opposite direction, so we really only saw the front, she said "Its got those bling lights; why is the logo so high!?"

Most people don't observe cars like we do; I went to lunch with a guy he said "Your truck is just like Bob's" I said yeah, except mine is the new body-style, and 6 years newer..........

They have a winning formula with the SRX, why would they stray to far from that with it's replacement? The XT5 looks like a significantly more refined vehicle from the outside and by all accounts it's the same story on the inside. The only question left to answer is will people buy the XT5 in volume at it's elevated price relative to the SRX?

Of course they will. After all, it is the "first ever" XT5.

That said, the XT5 does look a lot more refined than the SRX ever did. I always thought the SRX looked very low rent for being a Cadillac. It will be interesting to watch sales of the more expensive new model that won't have a pile of cash on the hood.

Yup - I wouldn't even mind it being a bit above centered, but THAT high imho it'd make more sense attached to the upper edge of the grille opening

It's a reason why the logo sits high on the grill.

As much as I am loathe to state it; have you seen the 2016 BMW 7-series? Welcome to 2006!

    - - - - -
XT5 is a tight-looking package, and Cadillac need to slow the pace of stylistic change (once they lock onto solidity, which IMO the XT5 definitely has).
The loathe part : the status quo luxury brands (read: German) have glacial stylistic change- some look every bit of 15 years old as BFN models.
American car critics (and here we're still talking about Cadillac) have been conditioned to expect radical change every generation… but ONLY on American brands.
With design evolution in it's 11th hour, either you use subtle refinement and hone your language, or you end up with things like the Lexus 'spindle' face (shudder!).

I think the average person already knows what a Cadillac looks like. If they're expecting radical change and they DON'T get it going forward from Cadillac…. call it 'being competitive' if that works for you.
