Spied: Next Cadillac Escalade to Get IRS

Spied: Next Cadillac Escalade to get independent rear suspension
    Drew Johnson
    December 13, 2018, 4:37 pm

Cadillac's next-generation Escalade luxury SUV has broken cover. Engineers were caught testing both the normal-wheelbase Escalade and the longer-wheelbase Escalade ESV model.

In a few of our spy shots an independent rear suspension is clearly visible; to date, Cadillac has only fitted a truck-derived solid rear axle to its luxury SUV. Rumors dating back to last year have indicated that Cadillac was considering the switchover to an IRS.

The writer at that other site didn't notice the suspension control arms visible in the spy photo.

I've talked to someone about this on another site that confirmed it Navigator isn't even being bench-marked at Cadillac too low for them.

It must have an adjustable height suspension, too, because it's showing a scandalous amount of inner fender.

    Cylon?

Pony Car: an affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance-oriented image and an available V8.

Yes please!! That would solve the "stiff ride" problem, plus fix the packaging issue in the 3rd row/cargo area. If they upgrade some of the cost cutting in the interior, then they will have addressed my biggest criticisms.

Now about that V-Sport I've been asking for since last Gen........

I don't get this argument the 3rd row on the Escalade now is huge. How much bigger do you really need?

It's compromised by its current suspension setup - that's why the floor is raised. Also it's has the least amount of leg room in its class.

Not a deal breaker, but could be improved. Going to IRS should solve these issues.
