Should GM make a new Buick Roadmaster wagon?

I've never driven one, but there is something really cool about them. This guy on TV here in Conn. drives one. His wife drives a Regal and they talk about it on tv. I found this picture and there are some Roadmaster stories at the bottom

I wish they would, along with a Caprice, and a Fleetwood off the Omega platform, but dont hold your breath, I guess its just to hard to build 3 fullsize RWD sedans....to bad GM did not rethink there logic in 1996 when they killed all 3.

There are three ways to go for a new Roadmaster wagon....

    1. A LaCrosse Wagon

    2. The Chinese Business Concept MPV

    3. A Stretched Zeta Wagon

    No on 2&3.
4th looks most production likely for a wagon.
And yes Buick and Chevrolet need a large car again.
Chevrolets "large" car Impala is smaller interior wise than my C-body Bonneville.

Re: Should GM make a new Buick Roadmaster wagon?

The simple answer is NO. Wagons have not sold well in the American market for well over 20 years now, and nothing for the foreseeable future is going to change that. If GM had money to burn on a goofy niche project like this, they would be better off building a world class minivan instead. There are literally dozens of important projects that need to be considered before we bring back a car that will sell a couple of hundred units per month.

Monaro, I like the rear of the first one, but using the Caprice/PA rear doors foward....I think it would sale, the magnum did well, I mean they all sold.

And yet when Chrysler killed the Magnum, after only a 3 year run, they said,

"These actions reflect our new customer-driven philosophy and allow us to focus our resources on new, more profitable and appealing products".

    Ouch!

Re: Should GM make a new Buick Roadmaster wagon?

It would be fun if they did but I doubt it would happen. Some people claimed Buick was going to watch the sales of the Acura TSX SportWagon to determine if they were going to sell a Buick Regal wagon but sales were low so they never bothered (even though they had Opel Insignia test wagons in North America).

And now it looks like the trend is smallish family cars like the Chevrolet Orlando in Canada and next up is the Buick Encore or whatever it's going to be called. I'd be at least tempted to look at the Buick crossover because part of me wants a large vehicle like the Buick Enclave but another part of me would like a smaller vehicle as long as I can get AWD. Really, in some parts of Canada there's no point if you can't get AWD.
    AWD wagons
The Opel Astra and VW Scirocco need to be in North America.

Re: Should GM make a new Buick Roadmaster wagon?

I would be happy with a Regal or Verano wagon.

The last Buick I loved was the Roadmaster, but Buick's natural competitor is now Acura, and I don't see Buick in the U.S. ever selling a big RWD sedan or wagon again. I wish the Roadmaster had lasted many years longer than 1996.
