Should GM bring beautiful Buick minivan to U-S?

Why let Honda, Chrysler, Kia, and Toyota control the minivan market? This could sell really well here https://jalopnik.com/this-buick-mini...ior-1834510841
Needs a name though: I think a heritage name could work, maybe Century?

Not a chance. Minivans are pretty much stagnant I believe and the ones in there are taking in all the ones who really want something like that. Look at Pacifica and how it has fallen flat even after it was introduced as being the Chryco's new minivan taking up after the last one left. This thing at the link would need bodywork that would make it less fugly in some areas like side profile and that over the top interior would never make it here. It looks like a specialty catering to China's upper crust executive class inside kind of like a corporate jet on wheels...

Build it in Oshawa or Lordstown

This is a mistake, Ford and GM should get a cut of the small pie. Put pressure on imports Kia, Honda and Toyota

Re: Should GM bring beautiful Buick minivan to U-S?

Sales in the US Minivan segment fell by 0.5% to 482,185 in 2018, their lowest level since the car market bottomed out in 2009. Overall, this puts the segment roughly where it was in the mid-1990s, before a boom in uptake took total sales to almost 1.3 million cars in 2004. And it’s not just the customers who have been fleeing the segment – the number of models on sales fell from a peak of 20 in 2006 to just 5 in 2018, including the well-past-its-prime Dodge Grand Caravan and the Kia Sedona, which is likely to be discontinued before long.

    Highlights:
Dodge Grand Caravan not only comfortably remained at the lead of the segment, but actually managed a 21% sales increase compared to 2017, though the large majority of this are presumably fleet sales
Chrysler Pacifica maintained its sales level from the year before, although this meant that it lost ground not just to the segment leader, but also to the new Honda Odyssey, which saw its sales rise by 6%
Toyota Sienna saw its sales fall by 21% in anticipation of the arrival of an all-new model in 2019, causing the Toyota to lose a spot to its arch-rival, the Odyssey, for the first time in eight years
Now that Nissan Quest and Mazda5 have been discontinued Kia Sedona inherited the segment laggard mantle, though with sales falling by a quarter despite a recent facelift the model may itself soon leave the segment

That's a CONCEPT. Not quite importable from Chyyynnnaaahhh!! yet. My first impression of the interior is it looks like a hoe-house.

If that's what Big-Shot ChiCommies like, well, what a surprise.

They should bring that level of interior to the USA, but not that minivan. Do a "Yukon Denali Maximum" with that interior, or a "Buick Enclave Avenier Maximum". I don't think a flashy interior like that is right for the direction Cadillac is going - Cadillac has taken a minimalist approach.

Re: Should GM bring beautiful Buick minivan to U-S?

    No because:

    1. Its not beautiful
    and
    2. the dimensions aren't meant for the American market.

Chinese MPVs tend to be on the long and narrow side. This thing is only 73.3 inches wide...the Pacifica, for example is 79 inches wide.

I'm not sure if there would be much demand. The more luxury-oriented Chrysler Pacifica is struggling for sales despite being a darling of the automotive press. People just prefer the crossover/SUV body-style these days.

I say NO as there is LITTLE market upside and GM never had a good name in the van market to "fall back on"
A lot of the sales are people that "need" the space for LESS money as the caravan VS pacifica proves and the caravan is UP in sales but it is also priced like an EQUINOX OR LESS
and GM would want it priced ABOVE the 'nox and it would flounder in those ranges

Re: Should GM bring beautiful Buick minivan to U-S?

If you click the second link in my post above and drop down to the "Highlights" line graph, you can see all brand and model minivan sales through world history. GM was never a big player. Their stuff was weird or ugly looking, obviously their heart wasn't in it, and given their current disinterest in anything that's not

    1. A truck
    2. A ute
    3. A 'lektrik

the chance of Mary & Friends dipping once again into this market is about as likely as their re-opening Lordstown and pushing hard on small cars.

Perhaps this question could be better addressed after the next facelift/refresh of the minivan?

This should be taken out back at shot.

And Buick with it if that thing ever made its way over here to the States or anywhere else in the world besides its home country.
