I Drove the CT6... Any Questions?

Like the title says, what would you guys like to know? I really put the car through its paces, too.

Might do a write up if I have time later this week.

I want to know what you think of its driving characteristics, pick up, noise level in the cabin and visibility out of the drivers seat.

Did you feel like TUT behind the wheel?

Engine, drive, trim, options, etc of what that is? THEN...how did it drive, handle, etc.? Materials? Gripes? Any info would be good, really.

In the general category of interior space. Does the CT6 harken back to the spacious interiors of past Cadillacs? Such as the Fleetwood and Broughm.

Drove very nicely. In tour mode, the ride is very smooth (almost XTS-like!). Sport really tightens the car up and makes it feel and ride like my ATS.

3.6L was pretty smooth and had decent power, but I still don't think it's the right engine for Cadillac.

Very, very, very, VERY quiet. Eerily quiet. A+ work by the team there.

Visibility was fantastic. I love the seating position.

3.6L AWD Premium Luxury. Sticker just north of $70,000.

Drove very well and was very quiet and composed going down the road.

Materials weren't good and didn't change from the CTF car I sat in last July. Hard black plastic on the entire lower door and door pockets, build quality issue with a misaligned glove box. No squeaks or rattles, so it was good on that front.

It had Panaray, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't let down. Very little bass, highs and lows aren't really all that impressive either. I was really, really disappointed, especially after I experienced the world class Revel system in the MKX a few days prior to driving the CT6.

Great legroom, especially in back. Width is good, but I wish it had an extra inch or two more. Lots of head room.

Packaging wise, it's the most practical RWD Cadillac sedan. It actually doesn't feel small inside like CTS does.

Not surprising, but disappointed to hear...Cadillac is making a mistake sticking with Bose as well. Hope the build issues and maybe even materials improve 2017 MY.

Re: I Drove the CT6... Any Questions?

I forgot to mention - CUE is absolutely fantastic in the CT6. Wonderfully good. Fast, pleasing to look at, and is a joy to use. I can easily say that it's the best infotainment system in the luxury marketplace now. It's every bit as good as SYNC3, which is excellent itself. Really good work on CUE updates, Cadillac. I complained about CUE in the 2016 CTS I drove, but the CT6's version of CUE is fantastic. Really good.

So I take it that you still hate it and Cadillac has no future?

The interior looks much better than that grey than I remember

That's a very bold statement. Why would Cadillac not have a future?

Re: CT6 - Yes, I still dislike it rather immensely, especially because the G90 and to a lesser extent, Continental exist. Cadillac proved that they can make best in class, top notch interiors with the CTS and XT5. Why couldn't they do the same with this car?

Honestly, the lower door panels aren't the worst thing in the world. I have long legs, keeping the skuff marks off the door has been a bit of a challenge in the CTS and when I had the A5. To me the quality of the arm rest is much more important.

I do think the interior has some shortfalls, but as a first draft, it'll be enough to sell and raise the prestige of the brand and definitely warrant a new generation

Price point perhaps, its an S Class size car, after all the money went into engineering an easily top Chassis, something probably had to give...

Here, I took a video of it, because I knew that what I said about the interior would be controversial on here:

Why is it that the cheap $30,000 ATS gets leather on the inside of the door pocket and this full-sized, full priced Cadillac gets Chevy Sonic-grade plastic there? It's a cheap cost cutting move, it's a dumb product diminishing move, and it's a move that they shouldn't have even thought about making in the first place. This car is the grandest Cadillac available to buy. It's the... dare I say it... FLAGSHIP. Stupid idea by them to cheap out on the entire interior of this car.

Why is it that this car has hard plastic right under the center console, when BOTH the ATS and CTS have leather and or carpet lining all the way up to the gear shifter? Why does the ATS have better, thicker carpet than this flagship Cadillac sedan?

It's just GM and Cadillac trying to save a buck, and making themselves look bad in the process.

You brought up that you like armrests... you'll like the CT6's then. Well padded and of high quality. If only the entire interior was like that.

    No excuses.

But, there is truth in your statement. Like my friend/customer, a GM employee said, "you can tell where we spent the money on this car.".

And if I were a "bettin' man", I'd wager that it was NOT on the interior.

Good. My A5's amrest were horrible.

The good news about your critiques is that all of it is fixable in this generation. An early MCE can take care of ever single one of those items.

Plus, its not like we have major hardware and software changes that need to be made to fix them. Remember CUE on the ATS wasn't fixable without a new processor and additional hardware.

There's already changes coming to add a volume knob to replace to touch strip.

Well said, mbukukanyau. When Cadillac ATS came out for MY 2013, Car and Driver stated "This car is like a Lotus: There are a lot of compromises, but the chassis isn't one of them."

To a lesser extent, this could apply to CT6 as well.
