Complete speculative prediction on CT4-V and CT5-V

Looks like there is going to be a ton of horsepower space between the regular Vís and the V Blackwings.

So, I am guess we might see tweener Vís coming. From what I have read elsewhere looks like the Blackwings will target M3 and M5 respectively rather than M2 and M3 where the baby Vís are targeting M240i and M340i.

Itís not hard imagining Cadillac returning the 3.0TT to its original CT6 state of tune of 400hp/405lb-ft and bolting that inside the CT4 to make an M2 competitor. Itís specs would pretty much be the same as the M2.

There is a ton of space between 360hp and 650hp respectively for the CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing. Imagine reconfiguring the 3.0TT with a supercharger instead of the turbos ó maybe get a 450hp and putting it in a CT5. Imagine a set up where you have a V, V-Wing, and V-Blackwing for each car.

    So like this:

    CT4-V 325/380
    CT4-V Wing 400/405
    CT4-V Blackwing (speculative) 480/480

    CT5-V 360/405
    CT5-V Wing (speculative) 450/450
    CT5-V Blackwing 650/650

    Am I too crazy?
I am on the border of genius and crazy. I keep trying to cross over into genius, but ICE keeps sending me back to the crazy side of the border.

Yes The performance market is tiny. Carving it up that finely for cadillac is just not feasible. But who knows. Rumour is the new vette will have a hybrid, z06, zora(zr-1) and a hybrid zora. Again I am dubious, that is many models to carve a small market. And I am not even counting a grand sport version, and of course all the convertibles.

I'm with Vagon.. I don't see those in-between trims coming on to play.. But the pat I bolded is the exact same thing that was done during the GEN 2 CTS's tenure. They let the regular CTS compete with the smaller 3 Series.. while the CTS-V and V-Coupe competed with the M5 and M6. It was a weird strategy. It will be again. Cadillac should just come out and say that the CT5 and CT4 are real competitors to the 3 Series and 5Series at less of a price hike because.. (make something up) "They are home grown."

Not crazy enough...I'd like to see a stick shift 2.0T. Now that's crazy!

Even though I'd buy one, I don't seriously expect the stick to come back. (No way I can afford a Blackwing.) But if they do...offer it with the Sport version rather than the base Luxury. It's the Sport people that are going to want it anyway. Special order only, maybe part of a Performance package with MRC? So you could get a Sport with MRC and a manual, that'd be great. Offer the 10sp auto and MRC as a package on the Sport for the automatic people.

Don't get me wrong, the 3.0TT in the CT4 would be cool!

I have to agree with the other two, I just don't think the sales for sedans are going to support multiple trims of performance lines. I mean, how many Vsport CTS's were sold? I've never, ever seen one in the wild. And it's only gotten worse for sports sedan sales since.

Maybe instead some staged factory supported upgrades would be an option? Bump the CT5-V tune back up to that 400hp range mentioned?

    I don't think there will be a 3rd V trim in either CT4 or CT5.

I think it's more likely that the Sport trim of each gets the 2.7 + 3.0 as options.

I just would like to see a 2.0 matching the LTGs output in a lower Sport model. Leave the 230hp version for the base trims. So the lineup would look like:

    CT4
    2.0T 230hp - Lux
    2.0T 270hp - Sport
    2.0T/2.7T 230hp/310hp - Premlux
    2.7T 325hp - V
    6.2 LT2 - 495hp - BW

    CT5
pretty much the same but subbing in the 3.0T for the CT4s 2.7, with the LT5 @ 750hp as the BW.

That's how I would do it.

Agree. Dont think it will happen even though it might make sense. Amid all the insanity with current situation GM made sure to point out yesterday that the new full size SUVs won’t be delayed due to Covid. Everything else will be but not the cash cow.

Yeah you could paint the full-size SUVs in Stellar Coronavirus Black and still them in droves.
