    Cadillac XT4 TV Commercial

Last night I watched a Cadillac XT4 television commercial for the first time. The commercial was a bunch of pretty, young women giggling, smiling and wiggling in an XT4. The commercial told me nothing about the vehicle, other than at the end it listed the starting base price.

Anyone else seen this commercial? What did you think?

    I've seen it plenty.

Honestly, there isnt much to talk about the XT4 other than showing it off. So, Cadillac took a catchy song, pretty models and threw it together. It's sloppy but an ok effort.

Some of these ads on it seem a bit frivolous and flighty in nature but maybe that's the demographic they're chasing with this, I dunno.

It would be much better if you could see the car for more than a millisecond at a time. How tough would that be?

Commercials with pretty people sell. News at 11. I will say the new line of commercials are a million times better than those dare greatly spots. At least the new ones are light bouncy and fun. I think the one with the XT4/5 and Slade playing in the snow is very good.

Yeah, there are 20 times more women in women's magazines than there are men. That used to be true of men's magazines, too.

I never liked any of the “dare greatly” commercials.

The latest Cadillac commercials seem rather childish. I have not seen any that state Cadillac represents state-of-the-art engineering, highest quality and luxury (or something good....).

Cadillac needs to tells its customers (and potential customers) good things about their vehicles. Chevrolet has been running many commercials for some time touting their quality and reliability.

Cadillac seems to only run giggle-commercials now.

I think it's ok, lively music that catches my attention, bright visuals, etc.. Based on the commercials they are clearly aiming at younger women. In general I'd say a demographic that is not interested in hearing about turbo chargers, lap times, the number of gears in the transmission (or even if it has a transmission) - they are more interested in the image.

It's only a half step away from the tech-savvy black and Asian interracial classical music enthusiast couples.

Great if you're 15 and flighty. Reminds me a bit of the Lexus ad with a slightly older, calmer woman driving around in her Lexus, smiling occasionally. Deep.

    Now here's an ad:

Bill Bernbach had a problem. Carl Hahn had contracted his agency, Doyle Dane Bernbach (DDB) to promote a car called the Volkswagen in the United States. Bernbach’s problem was that Hahn’s call came at the end of the fifties, when America was in a deep love affair with stylish vehicles made in Detroit, USA. How could DDB sell an small, ugly, cheap, foreign car that Hitler had a hand in creating — to the American public? Luckily for Hahn, Bill Bernbach was the most innovative ad man of his time, being a key player in what is today known as the Creative Revolution. The campaign that DDB put together for Volkswagen in 1959 would not only make their car “as American as apple pie” but be recognised by Advertising Age as being the greatest ad of all time and change the industry forever.

This ad has been around for weeks. I like it. The song is catchy and I like yellow sweater girl. I think it's a good launch ad that might get people to go to the Cadillac website for more info.
