The Platinum edition is plenty hot, though, featuring a new three-liter twin-turbo 400-horsepower V6 coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission that can be shifted manually. Cadillac says itís the only six-cylinder engine that combines turbocharging and stop-start technology to save fuel. The car is capable of five-second zero-to-60 times, and it handles superblyóon par with anything from Audi, BMW, or Mercedes. The only option on the test car was $700 for 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.

The car is a technical tour de force for Cadillac, and the test car boasted electronic precision shifting, magnetic ride control, active rear steering, heated and cooled massage seats and heads-up display. A ***** at parking? The Cadillac will help.

Itís also one of the safest cars on the road. Back onto a busy road and the CT6 shakes the seat to warn of coming traffic (if you somehow missed seeing it via the rear-view camera). There are alerts for lane changes, rear cross-traffic, forward collision, and pedestrians. Ignore everything, and thereís automatic braking and automatic seat-belt tensioning.

Loved that article.. but figured if I posted here someone would ruin the talk of how elegant, superfluous, powerful, stately, beautiful, agile, awe inspiring, opulent, it is.. with talk about how the seat adjusters look on the door panels

Nothing unique about that - plenty of others do that.

You need to focus on what matters.

If you were giving this car a thorough cleaning and removing debris from the carpet, were you to reach under the seat, your hand may actually come into contact with unpadded metal surfaces. Just imagine your embarrassment at finding you had purchased such a "luxury" vehicle.

Know any other than Cadillac in the US market?

The most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. I had the pleasure of getting a ride in the platinum, what a fantastic car and the Panaray stereo was really good!

I didn't see the implied qualification to US only - globally, almost every 6-cylinder diesel will have them as well as a few 6-cylinder petrols like the new Mercedes-Benz M256 402 bhp / 369 lbft

That is very low torque from the MB, what’s the displacement?

It's a 3.0L I6. They have a higher output version that makes 429 HP and 384 TQ as well.

Still, MB can do better than that on the torque, unless they are going for FE. The thing is though, their old Mercedes S Chassis weigh tons, its like a heavy duty towing concrete. That is not enough power to get it going.
Then they put all the dead cows in there, and wood, making it worse, plus their idea of active suspension is tubes pumps and pipes working with cameras..

I just do not get it.

It would be nice to have more, yes. But it's an inline-6, which is inherently smoother than a V6. And "smoothness" is what matters, at least according to Cadillac with their 237 HP 2.0T replacing the 268 HP 2.0T for "smoothness".

Where I'll give Mercedes-Benz credit is performance from the S450. It hits 60 in a couple ticks slower as the CT6 3.0TT (like 5.0 vs. 5.3). That's pretty impressive for a larger, heavier car with less power moving it to do.

NG S Class is rumored to be larger than the current W222, but lose weight. Let's see.

Perhaps they meant to say the Cadillac is the only 6-cylinder to combine twin-turbo and start-stop? Or perhaps that is what Cadillac said and the author of the article mis-stated it? The MB M256 is not a TT, AFAIK.

They almost certainly intended the comment to apply to gas engines only (not diesels, which are completely different animals).

The luxury kings here? That's exactly what they would complain about.
