As time has passed by the few Continentals I see out in the "wild" I have started like them.

I wonder how much they depreciate in the used market?..I'd almost consider getting one,but I've got other goals to hit..eventually.

True. That's the way it is with many storied names, because for their time the original was that great.

I really don't care what the names are as long as they stick to one naming scheme for more than a couple of years. For all I care, they could call them:

Escalade --> Porterhouse (big, thick, and the best)

XT6 --> T-Bone (tries to look like a porterhouse but smaller and with less of the good stuff)
XT5 --> Ribeye (a bit underrated, but can be better than a T-bone depending on what you like)
XT4 --> Flank (not as juicy but pretty decent if you marinade, er, I mean option it up)

CT5 --> Sirloin (nasty or pretty darn good, depending on how you trim it)

No thanks with the aged baroque names.

I didn't like it either when it came out. In certain ways it has grown on me, but overall I think the size is to small for the styling. Meaning it has the styling that belongs on a Rolls Royce sized car and loses something on the petite frame it's on. I have a hard time describing what I'm seeing - maybe a better analogy is a child wearing adult sunglasses - way to big for their face.

I know the Continental was on the Fusion chassis but a neighbor has one and to me it looks like a tarted up Taurus. Not an ugly car at all but the proportions just look a bit off.

I feel the same way. You've (at least for me) described the problem I have with it as well, which is why I the first think "MKZ" everytime I see one.

A car in search of a bigger chassis. GM should share the Omega chassis with Ford to offset the cost for both companies to help them keep them both around. Though it will never happen...

    Who cares what they're named....

As long as they end in "-iq", I'm good!

Why would Cadillac want to remind buyers of the junk they used to make? Those cars all handled like boats and fell apart by 80,000 miles.

The Conti isnt a bad looking car, a d I love how they did the door handles in the window trim...its just wrong wheel drive and there's some weirdness with how low the hood is vs the the greenhouse.

Agreed. Like one of the auto rags said way back when the newly redone 1985 Cadillac DeVille's and Fleetwood's came out, It has a certain bolt upright, midwestern charm about it.
