As much as I like the names, Seville, Biarritz, Fleetwood, and DeVille, they belong to the Cadillacs of years ago. The Cadillac of tomorrow, is not the Cadillac of 50 years ago. Cadillacs of tomorrow needs names evocative of athletic power and grace, cutting-edge technology, head-turning style.

Add to that names that reflect or represent their newfound design language...and I for one am not to keen on what has been teased, Lyriq and Celestiq.

Yes and no. While those are Yesteryear names from the fitties to the seventies, the younger generations have never heard them and might take a fancy to them. What's old is new again. OTOH, there are hundreds of town names in France and Spain that have not been used for cars/utes yet.

I don't have much faith in the current brain trust to come up with catchy, classy, creative names. So far, their Q series naming scheme seems infantile.

"Not too keen" would be an understatement for me. How about "Pathetic and pitiful"?

All of those names remind me of an old guy wearing patent leather white shoes, a Hawaiian shirt and immense sun glasses.

    Re: Cadillac Names

The truth is no matter what you call them names mean little if the car is not created properly.

Putting an old name is not going to fix a bad car. How many people say gee I am going to buy that car because of the name?

GM needs to better balance the investing into EV and ICE models as they. Will need both. The ICE models need to be more than built from Chevys parts bin.

The canceling of the Omega models and BlackWing Turbo was a major mistake they will pay dearly for if the EV models fail to generate needed volumes.

I get tired of the name argument while the real problems are seldom addressed.

To be honest the name equity of most of the old models was destroyed in the 80’s and 90’s.

Agreed, the names are meaningless unless the car is great. The Continental is a great example, all the hype, the supposed huge list of interested buyers, the endless threads on GMI extolling how great it will sell with a real name. Then the Continental came out with a dull thud and low sales.
