2018 Buick Enclave slims down for spy shots

Most vehicles are refreshed every five years or so. New technology and styling is required to keep up with the latest trends. Although this cycle is common, there are some vehicles, like the Buick Enclave, that seem to stick around far past their expiration date. We now have spy shots of what appears to be the nine-year old Enclave's replacement.

Looks good. Much sleeker than the Lambdas.

Looks good. I do think those are the production headlights. Kind of odd that they decided to keep the rear windshield wiper exposed instead of hiding it like the XT5 or Escalade.

Is it just me or does this look very close to being finished.

I dislike the rear window wiper as well slay. Doesn't make sense to keep it exposed with the clean lines of Buick. However, thank goodness for real exhaust tips. The bumper infused with exhaust tips is really dumb looking.

I can point to countless high end SUV's that do not have a concealed rear wiper. This is a total non issue imo.

I'm not saying its an issue at all. I just thought that since they did on the 2 Cadillac models and that they'll spread that same design and tech to the other brands. I have no problem with them keeping it Cadillac centric.

No one said it was an issue really. Just odd.

This is not perfect, but I think I got them lined-up pretty good, looks like it's only about 2-3" longer than the Acadia, and wheelbase less than that?

Exposed rear windshield wiper is a deal killer for me.

Why are they shrinking these? The size is the draw. There's plenty of little CUVs out there.

I hope they continue with the unique good looks of the current Enclave and don't drift towards the exterior blandness of the new Envision.

    x2.

Buick is abandoning the Large CUV market or will this one squeak in as a Large while being significantly smaller than the current model? Just thinking out loud here.

It's a meh on the size for me. If the car drops a lot of inches but retains the same size on the interior then its nothing. Part of the turn off of the Lambda is the fact that it's so large on the outside without returning the favor on the inside. Worst second row seat comfort of any large CUV.

It looks like its going to be a lot like the new Acadia, just a bit longer, IMHO the Acadia lost a lot of its curb appear in its re-make.

The current Lambda has terrible 2nd row seats, and it is massive on the outside, but at least with the 3rd row up, its got room behind that last seat, something then new Acadia has a lot-lot less of.

So what is the "over/under" on the weight loss? I'll go with 520 lbs.
