"I know a lot about cars. I can look at a car's headlights and tell you exactly which way it's coming." - Mitch Hedberg ...
Well, well, well. Interesting.
Now, let's see if they do the right thing and release a few RWD/AWD cars. Put Oshawa to good use.
Personally, with all the rumours and talk I think we'll see something on Zeta at Detroit in a few months. I think Lutz will get his way, especially as the hue-and-cry from the car nuts re: the demise of the G8 is something GM most probably didn't expect nor did they expect it to continue long after the announcement. I'm sure the Feds have taken notice, too. Build a great car, the customers will come back.

I drove the G8 GT and it was far superior to the recently released ford taurus SHO ...
GM would do well to utilize this vehicle in a chevy format..
Maybe a slightly better material for the center stack ...and thats about it..
At slightly under 30 grand...its a steal..... (without sunroof or nav etc)
2008 black c6 corvette z51 m6 on black c7 z51 19/20s and 2018 Bright red alfa stelvio ti sport on 20 s with sport seats
How about they release it here with that 3.0L SIDI engine that was just put in the Commodore?
Only thing I'd add Hitman are a few Zeta's to Cadillac. Maybe throw in the Bose fully active suspension system just for kicks.
There's PLENTY of room.
Commodore for Chevrolet.
Ute for GMC.
Statesman for Buick or Cadillac.
C'mon guys.

The guys at the RenCen must be hearing it from a lot of car guys.
It just seems so obvious that Zeta should live on.
Drives a 2019 Cadillac ATS Coupe and a 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA.
In the past, I've had a 5th gen Camaro, a CTS sedan and coupe, two 3rd gen Firebird Formulas, a convertible 4th gen Trans Am, a Reatta, a couple of Monte Carlos, an Avenger coupe, a couple of Cavalier hatchbacks, a Saturn SC1, and a Cherokee.
There is definitely a "sweet spot" of import numbers (assuming production from Australia) to ensure it is rare enough to merit a good transaction price and desirability as well as controlling any negative impacts on CAFE. Otherwise move production to Oshawa along side the Camaro to ensure utilization of GM's highest quality assembly facility.
The limited numbers retains credibility and car guys and keeps the greenies at bay when you compare a comparable number of 7 and S series coming this way from Europe. The cars may not match up option wise but do from a tailpipe emission envirofreak argument.

I posted information about Tom Stephens interview last Wednesday.
It is clear that GM will do something with the zeta platform, and they are presently deciding what.
I posted earlier that a cop car from Oz, followed by NA production of a whole line of Chevys at Oshawa makes the most sense. A Cadillac would need more work, so it will take a little longer, and may be on Zeta III, if there is such a thing.
The business case only works with NA production because of exchange rate fluctuations.
Turn it into the new Impala? Maybe it isn't "Impala" like or would target the same people as the Impala.
I would buy an Impala SS if offered.![]()
People (including me) only bought the G8 once incentives brought the price down to $26k-$27k. They'd have to price the Chevy in that range to be successful and that would be tough with it being built in AU with the crappy $US these days.
I, Non-GM employed or related, paid GM military discount 31k with zero percent interest. Does anyone have actual facts for average transaction prices paid for G8?

I think prices will vary. I paid 27,xxx for my V6 with the supplier discount and then got the 0%. I think everyone with low prices opted for a rebate instead of 0% financing.
Since I financed my car the purchase price didn't matter as much as how much I'd have to pay over the course of the loan.
