    Thumbs up PONTIAC Hangout

Thought I'd create this thread just for a place for Pontiac fans/owners to hang out and post whatever they feel like. Just a casual hangout for fans of the Arrowhead. Post up pics of your rides, ones you love, stories of Poncho, feel free to rant, whatever. With all the anti-Pontiac dooshery on the site it would be nice for a spot for us to relax in all things Pontiac. So get us started if you want to post up.

I'll get things started for kicks.

How about mileage on your Pontiacs?

    99 GTP 151,XXX
    04 GTO 69,1XX
    09 G8 GT 38,XXX

This doesn't have to be a thread about mileage though, really anything goes. I'd love to see pics, stories and anything else related to the brand. So Pontiac fans, have at it.

This picture is almost 4 years old! I no longer have the GTO, but we still have the G6. It has 62k on it now (sold the GTO with 40k May 2009).

I'm a Chevy guy at the core, but I've always considered Pontiac's as something special.

Nice pic, thanks for sharing. Hopefully someone is still enjoying that GTO. Maybe I'll see it on the road as we will be travelling to western PA this Summer to visit my wifes relatives in the area. Just what I envisioned in this thread. People sharing pictures, stories, or whatever in this thread. Thanks.

It actually resides in Annandale, VA -- I sold it to a man for his son's graduation... from HS. Nice kid, though. Hopefully it's still on the road!

I must say, I enjoyed every minute of ownership. We lived in Northen Virginia at the time, so it certainly stood out among the minions of imports. We actually had the only Pontiac's in our apartment complex (which was almost 600 units).

I'll also add that my wife grew up in a Hondyota household -- she's a very proud Pontiac owner who is disappointed she is unable to replace the G6 with a new Pontiac (we're ordering a Regal T instead -- which she's looking forward to). Her dream car is a 2002 T/A WS6... black, of course

    Re: PONTIAC Hangout

    Phone 008.jpg

The car above is my former, Liquid Silver 2005 Pontiac Sunfire 1SV.

I absolutely loved this car. I had a great deal of fun with it in the 3 years that I owned it.

When I found the car, it was literally my needle in a haystack. I wanted a Sunfire with a manual transmission however they were next to impossible to find. One night, a friend an I visited our favorite Pontiac dealership and this car was the last in a line of Sunfires that spanned the front of the building. It was the least expensive car on the lot (it was the Special Value Package) and it had the manual transmission I had been looking for. The next day, I bought the car.

I owned the car from December 2004 to March 2008 when I traded it for my current car, a 2007 Ford Fusion. The electronic speedometer was experiencing issues which is what prompted my decision to trade it in. I do miss the car though, I had a lot of fun with it.

I really do miss the red instrument cluster lights. Not long after I had purchased my Fusion, the G8 was released and I had really hoped to trade my Fusion in on a new G8 when the time was right. Unfortunately, GM threw a wrinkle in my plans by winding down Pontiac.

Pontiac was my GM brand and I was heartbroken when GM decided to move forward without them.

Thanks for posting the thread, Orbit.

    '01 Grand Am SE

Dropped, wheels, CAI and exhaust. Was my first real car I bought with my money but it was my 2nd Pontiac.

'00 Formula. Exhaust, hood, brakes and shifter for it. Bought it in '07 with 34k miles on it and sold it a year later with around 40k. Made a pretty penny on it and still wish I didnt get rid of it but it was killing my back with the stupid f-body solid axle. Surprised many of a people with it. Ran 13.3 @ 106 in the 1/4.

09 G8 GT. Was the perfect car except for being an auto. Loved the color and the cloth interior. CAI and exhaust was it for this one. Ran 13.3 @ 103 with it.

06 GTO. 1 of 123 made in 06. Car has full headers and custom 3" exhaust. Shifter, CAI, DBA 4000 rotors and HPS pads round it out. Just the perfect car in reality. Most complain about the looks but I love the sleeper effect it has. Plus, every single person I talk to loves the red interior. Hands down the best seats GM has EVER put in a car. Ever. Havent been to the track with it yet but I expect it to run in the mid 12s. Not the best picture but you get the gist.

So, as you can see, I drove every single high HP RWD Pontiac that came out in the last 15 years. I know and understand Pontiac and it pains me that Im going to likely end up with a 6th gen Camaro for my next ride.

    Re: PONTIAC Hangout

Here's my Sunday driver, a 2009 Solstice GXP Coupe, #634, in "Mean" yellow. They only made 30 of the yellow coupes, and only got 1266 Solstice Coupes off the assembly line before they had to shut down the factory. This is in contrast to over 64,000 Solstice Convertibles that were manufactured. I've got 360 miles on it, and take it out only on nice days. I've got pictures of it in the Pontiac dealership, and it was the final Pontiac sold out of the dealership after decades of selling Pontiacs. (They put a huge bow, ribbons, and has the entire dealership there taking photos as the dealer principal handed over the keys to me! Here's a pic of #634 (click to enlarge):

You have owned some pretty sweet Pontiacs!

A friend of mine used to own a 1997 Grand Am GT 2 door that was white with black trim and had the factory chrome wheels and a sunroof. There was always a smile on my face anytime I got the chance to drive it. It was a remarkable sporty-feeling car to drive. I love the visual changes that you made to your Grand Am. It has such a menacing stance, as does your GTO. The Formula Firebird and the G8 look awesome as well.

I was very much looking forward to buying a new G8 when it became time to trade in my Fusion however unfortunately, China's love of Buick (the division that should have gone away, at least in the US) and GM threw a bit of a wrinkle into those plans.

Thanks for sharing your awesome Pontiacs!
